farmgirl63 Posted October 15, 2008 #1 Share Posted October 15, 2008 I know this has been discussed many times but I can't seem to find it now that I need the answer! Can you take a garment bag on as a carry-on bag? We're are flying NWA. Thanks! Tammy
fbgd Posted October 15, 2008 #2 Share Posted October 15, 2008 Yes, the only time you'll need to check a garment bag is on regional jets, but you can drop and pick it up planeside. You might be able to force a rather empty garment bag into an OH locker...

The Other Tom Posted October 16, 2008 #4 Share Posted October 16, 2008 Before the advent of rolling suitcases, everyone carried on a garmet bag (am i that old ??!?) You have to fold it in half to get it to fit in the overhead bins.
farmgirl63 Posted October 16, 2008 Author #5 Share Posted October 16, 2008 Thanks for the information. I would think that garment bags would be over the limit size wise and never was able to get mine to fold in half anyway! Tammy

The leather or plastic ones which are more like suit covers/dress covers, are fairly flexible, and SHOULD fold in half. Or one with or without wheels which are like suitcases. The suitcase ones cannot be taken onboard. Too large The soft ones-wait until everyone is seated and luggage is in the overheads. THEN lay your garment bag flat on top of everyone's bags. Or be the first to board and lay it out flat on the bottom of the overheads. Any other way and you may as well just have stuffed your dresses/suits in your suitcase. They will end up VERY wrinkled if they are not laid out flat. Coach passengers are generally restricted from using the closets.
