For those who have cruised from Tampa & Ft. Laud

How much is the taxi fare to/from airport to cruise dock? How far?

 

Is one of these locations more likely to have better hotel deals than the other? What are a few nice, reasonably priced (-$150 night) hotels you could recommend?

 

Any pros or cons of cruising from one location over the other?

It depends on the time of year as to hotel prices. December through April at either is peak season.

 

Also, summer season (Memorial Day-Labor Day) is no longer off season.

Hi,:)I was just in FLL this past weekend. A cab from the

airport to the ship in Port Everglades was 12.50. I gave

the driver 15.00 and went on Celebrity's new SOLSTICE:D

for a Pre-Inaugural sailing for 2 nights:)

She is a beautiful ship!:)

Location of the city you mean? It depends on what ship

I am sailing...its the ship. Whatever city she is docked in is

where I sail from:)

Tampa has fewer ships. FLL is one of the largest ports anywhere.

I do know Tampa's port is supposed to be quite nice. I have

friends who have sailed from there but I haven't been there

myself.

Now FLL....I love it down there:D..lots of hotel/motels, restaurants,

etc...and so many are close to the ships:D

I'm trying to take ALL things into consideration when choosing my next cruise..especially the ship of course..;)..and was just wondering if one city (Ft. Laud. or Tampa) is preferred by more people, and why. Thanks.

Taxi from Tampa Airport to downtown, where the pier is, is a flat rate, about $25. Tampa is a great port to sail from. A lot less busy than Ft Lauderdale, especially the airport. Therefore, your choices are more limited.
