bilyclub Posted April 19, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 19, 2004 Staying at the Hyatt 4/25. Anybody been there lately? Whats the area like?
marvholly Posted April 19, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 19, 2004 Stayed there 11/02. This hotel is NOT truly a Regency. The area is a business/financial district and almost everything except the hotel returants is closed. It is difficult to find a moderatly priced olace for dinner or breakfast within a couple of block walk and the lack of traffic in the area can be downright scary if you are unfamiliar with the area as I was. That said, all worked out and I was reasonably pleased for 1 nite precruise since we got it on priceline for about $45 total. Holly M/S Boheme 11/69 Rhapsody 2/77? lmmn Posted April 19, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 19, 2004 The hotel is very nice. Many people on these boards have gotten this hotel through Priceline for $35-$45. A very good deal at this price. It is just a few blocks from Bayside Marketplace. Bayside Marketplace has lots of shops and restaurants. There is also a Walgreens nearby. I felt safe walking during the day, but would take a taxi at night. I have stayed three times in the last couple years. Staff is very friendly and accomodating. JMG Posted April 19, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 19, 2004 We stayed at Hyatt and thought it was very nice. Agree with other poster that walking around in daytime is okay but Bellhops and staff made a point to tell us not to walk around after dark. Walgreens is in ground level of the Sun Trust building.(Sun Trust written across top of bulding) Bayside is a great place to go for dinner choices. Across street from Hyatt is Courtyard. If you cross over to Courtyard Hotel, continue to walk across that block there is a little bakery/coffee shop. If you keep walking (away from Hyatt) you will be in a shopping district. hdawson Posted April 19, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 19, 2004 An excellent property. Short walk to the free people mover (monorail) to the area of Bayside.

JeanF Posted April 20, 2004 #9 Share Posted April 20, 2004 It depends on what side you are facing. We had a corner room on a very high floor. A breathtaking view of Biscayne Bay. The room was very large and very nice. Breakfast in the hotel restaurant was pricey. The hot buffet cost us about $40. Get a cup of coffee and a bagel at the counter outside the restaurant and wait till you get on the ship. Plenty of food there. Jean
Rare Hlitner Posted April 21, 2004 #10 Share Posted April 21, 2004 We stayed there pre-cruise on Feb 26. Its a great deal on Priceline (we paid $40) and its a typical large Hyatt (connected to the convention center). As to Breakfast, you just walk out the front door, turn to your left, and there is a decent pastry shop about 1 block from the hotel (the doorman will point it out). We had a simple breakfast for about $10 (for two). Have long ago learned to avoid hotel breakfasts! Hank
