Hi,

I booked this cruise on royal caribbean only 3 weeks away. So naturally I don't get any cruise docs mailed to me. I did however do the online boarding, I havent printed it out yet. My question is probably stupid however can someone tell me will the porters have like blank luggage tags available for those who don't seem to have any. Or, do I need to make my own up with my room number on it.

Sorry if this issue has been brought up before.

This happened to me before, and it was before the wonderful age of e-tickets. No worries, they will take care of you at the dock.

Enjoy your cruise!

Ditto!!

I'm sure it's happened to every one of us, at one cruise or another. Mine was last March when I arrived at the pier and panicked because I couldn't find my luggage tags. The nice porter I had calmed me down and whipped ou9t two blank tags from his back pocket, and wrote out everything they'd need on the tags.

BTW, he got a nice tip for his troubles.

NCL has luggage tags that you print out with your edocs I would think most other lines would too. If you do just fold them and laminate them with packing tape and they are practically indestructible, actually more so then the ones they send you.

If you are flying don't put these on until you claim your bags at the airport, assuming you will be claiming them. but do put them on before you arrive at the dock.

We did the exact same thing on our recent cruise on 12/1. No luggage tags, so I made up some of my own with the cabin number very prominently displayed with our names and sailing date. We got the luggage tags from the porters at the dock (be sure to take a Sharpie). I never take a chance that the luggage will get misplaced or lost. So far, never had a problem! Better too much ID than not enough.

One thing that is nice about having the luggage tags in advance is that if the airline looses your bags.... The cruise line can get in contact with the airline and have them sent to the ship at the next port.

Our garmet bag did not make it to SJU on our cruise. RCCL tracked it down for us, and had it delivered to our room at the next island. It was amazing! They told us this was much easier because we had our luggage tags on the bags when we first checked our bags at our home airport.

Just get the tags at the port. You should always put your phone # and itinerary into an outside pocket of your suitcases IN CASE it gets lost. Do NOT put anything except the airline tags on your bags!!!!! They can (and do) lose bags with only their own info on it--why give them something more confusing???
