Fishfish Posted January 6, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 6, 2009 We are booked for a promenade stateroom on VOS. The room number is in the 6570's. Is there a way to tell which of the promenade venues are directly under the stateroom? The reason I ask is I want to know if smoke or the smell of smoke is ever a problem in the promenade staterooms. If someone can answer the smoke question, I would very much appreciate it. TIA.

The windows don't open, so no smoke smell. ;) You can go to the deck plans on RC's website and check out what is beneathe you that way. I wouldn't book a cabin right over the pub, for the noise factor.
Lushpuppy Posted January 6, 2009 #3 Share Posted January 6, 2009 Something fishy about this post:rolleyes: ONE post and yep..its a smoking one! How on earth, would an inside cabin which is completely sealed and non smoking have a problem with smoke:eek: Guess we took your bait Mr. Fish:cool:

I've been in plenty of hotel rooms that have windows that don't open where I could smell smoke. This was an honest question... but thanks for being totally rude and condescending.. I didn't, so IMO,I think that was a fair question.

This was an honest question... but thanks for being totally rude and condescending.. Promenade cabins windows are not like hotel windows. They are totally sealed. There are so many abusive smoking questions on here, I do apologise if you were being honest in your question.
reallyitsmema Posted January 6, 2009 #7 Share Posted January 6, 2009 I agree with Dirtgirl, I don't think smoke will be an issue, I think noise will be your biggest problem with a cabin in that area. As far as Lushpuppies comment, smoking is a hot button topic and many times, one post wonders come on and post to stir the pot. I think your post in the other thread where someone spoke of smoke in the pub, lead you to ask this question. Personally, I would move if you could to avoid possible noise from below. Fishfish Posted January 6, 2009 Author #8 Share Posted January 6, 2009 Thanks for the replies everyone and apology accepted Lushpuppy. I didn't mean to stir the pot. The last time we visited a casino/hotel, we booked a non-smoking room and the smell of smoke from below kept us both up all night...we are the quintessential ex-smokers :D Didn't mean to get anyone's blood pressure up and I'm sorry if my question did that. I'm sure as the smoking world becomes smaller and smaller, it's very frustrating to put up with us exes who complain about the smoke. When/if you quit, you'll understand. Peace and I really enjoy all the info I'm finding here. This is our second RCI cruise. And we went on one NCL cruise once before. Lushpuppy, we might have the rumrunner thing in common LOL. I was reading about that last night, thinking about my Merlot and how I hate to give it up...even if it is 10 dollar wine ;)

I ordered two wine and dine packages yesterday, as well as wine being delivered to the cabin for boarding. We intend to call by the restaurants, pick up some bubbly from our wine dine package, and take them to our cabin. PEACE and happy cruising to you too:) I also read somewhere that windjammer sells the mini bottles of wine, if so, we going to get some of them too for storing for guests etc.. one way or another LET NO MAN SPOIL THE PARTY:D
Lushpuppy Posted January 6, 2009 #10 Share Posted January 6, 2009 Sorry, didnt explain in full, as far as I know, there are NO smoking areas in the royal promenade??? Isnt that right???? trying to figure out how smoke would bother you when theres no smoking in the RP. Maybe I have it wrong???? From what I gather, all the prom areas are non smoking??? grayesun Posted January 6, 2009 #18 Share Posted January 6, 2009 Last winter on Explorer, besides those previously mentioned...the sports bar and the Crypt were unbreathable at times as well as the Schooner bar for first couple days out of Bayonne...with the Casino smoke billowing, it seemed difficult to find fresh air. We've stayed in Prom view rooms 3 times and never been bothered with smoke odor in room, but have had problems with smoking neighbors on balconies (no, not lovely ladies in bikinis). balcony4u Posted January 6, 2009 #19 Share Posted January 6, 2009 we were on liberty in dec and the pub was smoking, it was open to the promenade so your question is very fair. the promenade, in that area was smokey when you walked past, but i do not think it would be able to get into the room. Fishfish Posted January 6, 2009 Author #20 Share Posted January 6, 2009 thanks again for the responses everyone. We'll probably stick with the promenade rooms and keep our fingers crossed..
MrsCorL Posted January 6, 2009 #21 Share Posted January 6, 2009 actually when i think about it, a ship is built different then a hotel....the cabins are individual "pods", that fit together like a puzzle.....that might make the difference from any smoke "sneaking" in....granted, where the wiring comes thru, there might be a chance there, but i ready don't think so....it is probably insulated....
