gatour Posted January 11, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 11, 2009 I noticed that the soccer team in Barcelona, is currently scheduled to play a home game during our pre cruise stay. Has anyone gone to a game, how was the experience? We will staying near La Ramblas, so I imagine catching a taxi to the stadium won't be an issue, but am concerned about getting back to the hotel. Also some concern about safety. While I can tolerate some "edginess" my wife is a different story. There is another couple on our cruise that is also thinking about going to the game, so I figured best case all four of go, the other couple and myself go, or worse case I go alone. Thanks in advance for any feedback.
mickfoxland Posted January 11, 2009 #2 Share Posted January 11, 2009 http://www.fcbarcelona.com/web/english/ don't know if this site is any use to you it's a matter of if you can get tickets? I think most seats are season tickets, but if you get a chance then you must go, As for the stadium it's wonderful, and Barca are a great football team Who are they playing? But you have to remember in Europe especially in Spain, football is a religion not a game and fans get very passionate to quote the famous British football manager Bill Shankley 'Some people believe football is a matter of life and death. I'm very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that
gatour Posted January 12, 2009 Author #3 Share Posted January 12, 2009 Thanks for the link, I had already found the appropriate websites. Yep, I understand about their passion, actually one of the reasons I want to attend. Just trying to figure out if it was logistically possible, esp. getting back from the stadium. Rare cruisemom42 Posted January 12, 2009 #4 Share Posted January 12, 2009 Sorry, this doesn't answer your question but it may be good to know (for you or other Barcelona visitors) that Las Ramblas tends to be packed with somewhat rowdy football fans both before and after the game. It's fun to watch them, but it also makes things crowded and I'm sure lends itself to pickpocketing & so forth....
