Lindsay1982 Posted January 15, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 15, 2009 I am sailin out of NOLA on 2/7/09. We fly into MSY on 2/6/09 and want to stay somewhere for just the one night. The parking package isn't that big of a deal since we won't have a car. However, I went to book Drury online and the rate is over $150 for the night. I tried lots of different promo codes I saw on other threads and none of the worked (cruise, cruisinnola, nolacruise). Does anyone know how I can get a cheaper deal? I'd like to spend $100 or less since we will only be there a few hours. We will also be staying in NOLA for 3 nights after the cruise...and I don't want to spend a ton of money then either. Any help is great. Thanks!

I booked it for my cruise next week at $99 but that was back on 10/2008. Dan
KroozFoolz Posted January 15, 2009 #3 Share Posted January 15, 2009 I would also suggest calling Drury directly - 504-529-7800. You may also find something here - http://www.neworleanscvb.com/static/index.cfm/contentID/505/sectionID/2/subsectionID/108 (We are on that same cruise!) Dannie138 Posted January 16, 2009 #4 Share Posted January 16, 2009 Thank you for the link. I emailed Drury Customer Service with the code....and they discounted my 2 room suite to the rate of $140 a night! Saved over another hundred dollars for the two nights there...:D
Lindsay1982 Posted January 16, 2009 Author #5 Share Posted January 16, 2009 I just wanted to say Thanks to all of you! I called the reservation line in person and got the deal for $99/night. They're even giving me the same rate when we get back from the cruise! I spoke to Josephine and told her I have a promotional code: NOLACRUISE#307865. It was that easy! Thanks again! cookc61462 Posted January 24, 2009 #7 Share Posted January 24, 2009 I also got the cruise rate. There are 7 of us though, so had to add a little for the extra people in the two rooms. I still think it is a VERY good deal. 159 a night for the 2 room suite and then 99 for the other room. The free parking is what appealed to me the most!! So we can leave our cars there the whole time we are gone. Terrific. It also includes full breakfast and drinks at night ;) :D
ntshop Posted January 24, 2009 #8 Share Posted January 24, 2009 We just booked Drury yesterday for a night in April. They have the NOLA Cruise Special. I had the choice of a king room or 2 queens for 99.99 a night. I had to call reservations to get this special. I called the hotel first and they told me the name of the special and then connected me to the reservations department (not in New Orleans). Parking is included in this rate for the entire trip. This special was cheaper than their best rates which did not include parking. Parking is normally 15.00 a night.
GORDONCHICK Posted January 24, 2009 #9 Share Posted January 24, 2009 It also includes full breakfast and drinks at night ;) :D It also includes afternoon popcorn around check in time (the theater kind) and snacks from 5:30-7pm. The snacks when we were there were chips, tortilla chips with the hot nacho cheese, salsa, and peppers to add, plus baby carrots and celery sticks with ranch dressing. They did not ask for any promo codes, I just called asked if they had any specials for people going on cruises. 3 more weeks until my first cruise! I can't wait. NSBFloridaRetiree Posted February 28, 2009 #14 Share Posted February 28, 2009 I have not seen a hotel that can beat the deal at the Drury. We leave next Saturday for New Orleans. I called the Drury today to confirm and all is arranged.

phantomII Posted April 2, 2009 #17 Share Posted April 2, 2009 We spent the night there before our cruise. It was a very nice room and had an excellent breakfast. The best part is the location. Short walk to Bourbon Street and the big Harrahs casino. We left our car there for free during the cruise. I dropped off our bags at the port, drove back to the hotel and walked back to the port. About a 15 minute walk, not bad. Same thing when we returned, I walked to the hotel, got the car and drove back to the port to pick up the bags. ae2009 Posted May 1, 2009 #20 Share Posted May 1, 2009 I just booked a room for Wednesday September 23, 2009. The rate is still $99.99 a night and yes you do have to pay the $15.00 for parking the first night and then it is free for the rest of the time that you are gone. Check in is at 3 and Checkout is at 11. They have a swimming pool on the roof! You can cancel all the way up till 6pm on the day of your reservation. You do not have to prepay but just hold the room with a card. Thanks everyone for recommending this. It is a great deal!
ae2009 Posted May 1, 2009 #21 Share Posted May 1, 2009 Approx how far is this hotel from the port? Is it short enough for me (26) and my boyfriend (33) to walk with our luggage? Does anyone know if the hotel has a shuttle bus that might take us?

Does anyone know if the hotel has a shuttle bus that might take us? no shuttle bus from most hotels. It is walkable - about a mile. If you're schleping big luggage I wouldn't recommend it. Cab's aren't that expensive (probably aound $10)
doreenrae Posted May 3, 2009 #23 Share Posted May 3, 2009 I'm looking for some of the same information, as we are considering staying at the Embassy suites on Julia (I understand the port can be seen from the hotel) and wonder if it is possible to walk up to the port with baggage? I didn't know if a cabbie would be upset with a fare for such a short distance...(In Las Vegas, for example, they DON'T want to take you to a spot only a few blocks away, as they feel they are missing out on a higher paying fare) When we were in San Juan for our 1st cruise (1999) we stayed at the Wyndam in old San Juan, and the cruise port also was right across the street...We watched the ship come into port from our window and when it was time, we simply walked across the street to the port. Not sure if this is even possible there now, anymore, but am looking for information specifically for the port of New Orleans as we (hope to) leave out of there at the end of May. map70065 Posted May 4, 2009 #24 Share Posted May 4, 2009 It's close enough - and an easy walk, but there isn't really a walkway some of the way - you have to walk in the street. People do it despite the fact that there are signs warning against it. Cab's don't seem to mind short fares in New Orleans.
