hnokes Posted February 2, 2009 #1 Share Posted February 2, 2009 Hi all! Wondering if anyone would be able to help out. Our 21st anniversary is this year and our son (19) wants to purchase a cruise for the entire family ... balcony at that! I am so excited but I want to make sure he gets the best price possible since this is a BIG expense for him. For the 4 of us in a balcony cabin he has been quoted $2100.00 total (before taxes and gratuities). Can he get a cheaper fare somewhere else? Oh, and we are going on the Carnival Conquest, Nov 29 for 7 days! Any help would be most greatly appreciated!:p
TheVegasMan Posted February 2, 2009 #2 Share Posted February 2, 2009 Carnival's website has that cruise at $719 per person before taxes for a balcony and $549 for oceanview. If you're positive you're getting a balcony, that's a GREAT deal.

If you're positive you're getting a balcony, that's a GREAT deal. The OP mentioned 4 people in a balcony cabin -- Carnival's rate is $719pp for the first and second pax, and $289pp for the third and fourth. So basically they're being offered the standard "Early Saver" rate for this cruise. Total including taxes and fees, but not including gratuities, should definitely not exceed $2199.76... and if you shop around with travel agents, you'll likely find that some will give you better deals (basically by giving up part of their commission). Froufie Posted February 2, 2009 #4 Share Posted February 2, 2009 Are any of you past passengers? or over 55? That would affect the rate. I think the 2199 quoted is for the early save rate -make sure you are aware of the 'rules' and non-refundable deposit. the other option is to try cruise compete (as oneword) dot com - this is a site where you can enter your 'requirements' and travel agents 'bid' on your trip and make offers of different pricing - just make sure you are comparing apples to apples - and prices include all charges/taxes etc. Have fun!
