woody73 Posted March 4, 2009 #1 Share Posted March 4, 2009 What are the options for getting cash onboard at the Front Desk. Will they cash U.S. traveler's checks? Personal checks? Is there a limit? We will be on the Volendam. Thanks. Woody
catl331 Posted March 4, 2009 #2 Share Posted March 4, 2009 Yes to traveler's checks; do not know about personal ones. They will give you cash and charge it to your personal onboard account but they will charge 3%. They will charge at the casino also 3% if you want cash. I do not know if there's a limit, as the most we've ever cashed at one time has been $100. On occasion, we've cashed a $50 and requested all singles ... no problem. I think they have a backroom printing press to generate whatever denominations you want! Just kidding.
taxmantoo Posted March 4, 2009 #4 Share Posted March 4, 2009 I know on NCL, most of the ships' casinos have an ATM. Do HAL ships offer the same service?

Alexat2 Posted March 5, 2009 #6 Share Posted March 5, 2009 Travelers checks - Yes Personal Checks - NO There's NO ATM onboard, however you can also get money from your onboard account - ie. a cash advance on your credit card - OR - DEBIT Visa/MC card. With the DEBIT Visa/MC card - if you are in a foreign country where US dollars are accepted HAL's fee is cheaper than the ATM and foreign currency fee charged by most banks. (ie. my bank charges $2 + 2% foreign transaction fee for any NON-US transaction, that's ontop of whatever the foreign ATM charges. HAL is definately cheaper if I'm using US Dollars ashore).
