Brussels to Antwerp on our own

Happy Traveler

Recommended Posts

This summer we will be traveling on the Viking Sun cruise, Treasures of the Rhine. We will be on our own going from Brussels to the ship in Antwerp, and from the ship in Basel to the train station. I'd really appreciate any information on various ways of doing this, and the costs. Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Susan

The easiest would be the Antwerp Expressbus at 10 euro pp one way. It leaves from level 0 at the airport and it goes straight to the de Keyserlei in Antwerpen (Central Station).

By train (leaves from level -1 in the airport and involves one change and will cost alot more then the bus.

I'm doing this cruise March 22.

Thanks. However, we'll be going from Brussels after a 2-day stay there, so airport bus won't be too useful. I expect I'll be able to get travel info from hotel concierge, once we have a hotel booked, and now I know enough to ask about buses, etc from Brussels.

We were on the Christmas Markets cruise with Uniworld that ended in Basel this past December. We told them we needed a taxi to the airport for the morning of disembarkation. They arranged it for the time we needed and the driver came to pick us up from the ship. Uniworld staff helped us with our luggage up the elevator at the dock. It was very easy to get to the train station early in the morning. I do not remember the cost but it was not very much.

I haven't been there in years, but I did a daytrip from Brussels to Antwerp when I was there for a conference. It was an easy train trip, both ways. If I remember correctly, the train left the Brussels du Midi station and arrives at the Antwerp Centraal station. The trip takes somewhere between 45-60 minutes each way, depending on the train. The most difficult part of the trip was that you walk past all these jewelry shops on your way to and from the station in Antwerp!!

I took the train from Paris to Brussels and then onward to Antwerp last Spring for the same cruise. It was very easy by train.

We then took a cab in Antwerp to the ship. Juet find out EXACTLY where the ship will be docked. It took our driver awhile to find it and the clock was ticking.

We found this old post of yours and like your recommendation about the bus. We are on a Belgium-Holland cruise w/GCT next month and have to get from BRU to Antwerp. How did this work out for you? Any problems w/baggage? How can I get more info about this bus service? I like the idea of no train transfers. You can post your reply here, or email me at edamylee at gmail dot com. Thanks

Here is information on the bus from Brussels airport to Antwerp

As an airport bus service this would be very convenient for luggage. You will still need a taxi from the end of the bus line to the dock in Antwerp. It doesn't look like the Crowne Plaza option would be helpful.

Thanks Gnome12 for the quick reply-this is exactly what I was looking for.
