No Draft Beer on Veendam?

My understanding is that as part of the continuing Signature of Excellence program Draft beer will be a regular feature in Mix, which is replacing the Casino Bar and Piano Bar on 5 of the R and S class ships during their refit.

The Veendam is slated to be first and should be completed for an April 27 sailing.

Mix will consist of 3 sections: Champagne, Martinis, and Spirits & Ales, which according to the Holland America website "...will feature an international selection of beers and premium whiskeys and brandies sure to entice even the most selective connoisseur. Here guests can drop by to enjoy a wide selection of beers on tap while watching sporting events or relax after some shopping in the nearby boutiques."

This is very similar to the "Bar City" concept found on NCL's Jewel Class ships where 3 bars are situated together:

* Maltings Beer and Whiskey Bar

* Shakers Martini and Cocktail Bar

* Magnum's Champagne and Wine Bar

It is a very nice concept and hopefuly we will be able to enjoy on HAL ships soon.

It seems like it will be a long time before it happens on the rest of the dam ships. :(

Unfortunately that seems to be the case. The first 5 ships won't be completed until sometime in 2011.

I don't know what's scheduled for the Nieuw Amsterdam. Deck plans are not available on their website, and there's no mention of anything in that area (Mix, Sports Bar or Piano Bar) either.
