sleepybird Posted June 14, 2009 #101 Share Posted June 14, 2009 I am from the UK but in the US at the moment and I would like to purchase some onboard credit for the 19th June crossing. Please could someone advise me whether this is possible? I'm not sure what number to dial, seeing as the UK reservations number begins with 0845. Thanks for any help. :)
Cosmic Rays Posted August 26, 2009 #102 Share Posted August 26, 2009 Has anybody here in the UK purchased OBC and if so what rate was offered? I am seriously considering purchasing some for our November voyage on Queen Victoria
Norfolk Brit Posted August 26, 2009 #103 Share Posted August 26, 2009 Yes, most of the UK posters on this (very long, but very useful) thread. I got $1.89 to the £1, as did others. Mary
Crystaltipps Posted August 26, 2009 #104 Share Posted August 26, 2009 I bought OBC from Cunard a couple of weeks ago for our September crossing. I got a rate of 1.89 and was told that I could have any unspent refunded, but it would be in $. I'm in the UK and it was a UK booking via a travel agent. I put the purchase on Amex and it came up as a gift purchase, not a cash advance, so I benefit from cash back too!! Definitely worth doing - it's a hugely beneficial rate as I'm going to struggle to get 1.60 for our US visit prior to the cruise.

David2115 Posted August 26, 2009 #107 Share Posted August 26, 2009 got $1.89 the other week for QV cruise in October, thinking of purchasing another £1000 worth, not spending it and then getting it back in cash to spend in Florida when we go in December. BritNavyGal Posted August 26, 2009 #108 Share Posted August 26, 2009 Do you think it would be better for us from Canada to get a better rate from CDN to USD on board credit? This thread got me thinking it might be a better rate.
