LCW Posted April 10, 2009 #1 Share Posted April 10, 2009 Considering my 1st river cruise. I am interested in finding out about smoking areas on cruises in France and Germany. What are the policies? Are there any boats that are completely non-smoking? I cannot breath around smoke due to asthma, but don't want to be "locked up" inside if smokers have the run of the deck either. :( Interested not only in the larger vessels (Viking/Avalon) but also the smaller barges of 8-15 people. Appreciate any help.
webfoot Posted April 10, 2009 #2 Share Posted April 10, 2009 I can only speak for Avalon, but they allow smoking only on the outside of the ship ... all interior portions are smoke-free, which is good for those of us with asthma. As far as I know, most of the river cruise companies follow the same smoke-free interior policy.
pacmom Posted April 10, 2009 #3 Share Posted April 10, 2009 Uniworld, Vantage and Viking all have non smoking interiors. Smoking only outside. Really nice for those of us with allergies. I believe Steamboats mentioned that Deilmann is also non smoking inside. Some European countries have followed Ireland's policy and workplaces are nonsmoking.
