Alaska, June. Few quick questions

Hi,

just a few questions, if anyone's been before and knows.

Is it still warm enough to go in the swimming pools and hot tubs?

Weather wise..Is it t-shirt/jumper/coats weather, and does it rain a lot? I've seen a few weather reports that claim rainfall is high.

Do they have the afternoon tea onboard, like other lines do?

Can you see the northern lights at all? I've looked at quite a few sites that give mixed answers.

Thanks for any help.

Hi,

I live in Seward.

Warm enough for the pool in June? Probably not. Hot tubs? Maybe. Every day is different here. Right now, we're having weather in the fifties, but last week it was mid-sixties.

Does it rain a lot? Yes, we're the northern end of the boreal rainforest. However, June is one of the driest months.

T-shirts are for residents. Parkas are worn by tourists. That's how we tell the difference.:D

Northern lights are at their lowest point (or close to it) due to the sunspot cycle being at it's lowest. It's an 11 year cycle. Also, there's pretty much too much daylight for them to be seen. I was up at 3 a.m. this morning and it was too light to see them if they were there. So, my best guess (and it's a guess) would be "no."

I hope this helps.

A few years back we were in Alaska, the second week of June, for a cruise and we only saw the sun for about 3 hours total (it was light out just not sunny), it rained or drizzled almost everyday, and it was definitely chilly. I was almost always in a sweatshirt and jacket. As far as swimming, the pool on the ship was heated so plenty of people were swimming. I don't recall seeing the "northern lights" but I do recall it never getting dark - you really need to remind yourself to go to sleep because it never looks like you should be sleeping! :p

Have a great time, the scenery is amazing!
