VIA Rail operating as of July 26, 2009

The www.viarail.com website states today July 26, 2009, at 12:50 pm PDT that some of it's trains will restart operations today, and the rest tomorrow. Nothing is mentioned about how the strike was settled. Check the VIA website for details for passengers going to or from Montreal!

The strike is over. That the report we get from TV a few minutes ago

Many people will be glad to hear that!!

It was settled by both sides agreeing to go to binding arbitration.

The first train to arrive in Toronto was the Via/Amtrak train from New York city.

Hallelujah! I hadn't even told my family members about this strike hoping it would be resolved prior to our cruise which is 4 wks from tomorrow. We are taking the train from Quebec City to Montreal post cruise. Now it is one less thing to worry about.
