Amsterdam vs. Statendam

We are considering a cruise on either the Amsterdam or the Statendam later this year.

 

Are there any major differences? What are the conditions of these ships? Which would you recommend and why?

We have sailed on both.

The Amsterdam is just a little larger than the Statendam and much classier.

The Amsterdam also has elevators midship.

Amsterdam. We think it is just the right size.

Been on both and Amsterdam is my favorite of all HAL ships. I cringe when I see a review criticizing the decor because it is supposed to look like a ocean liner of yore. It is in great shape and easy to get around on.:):)

I have been on both ships and I would go Amsterdam. I think she is the nicest ship in the whole dam fleet.

I've been on Amsterdam once and Statendam twice with a third coming up in September. If it was a choice between the two and the itineraries were similar, I would go with the Amsterdam. She is newer and has the midship elevator.

I guess I like the Amsterdam (though I can't compare) since this next trip will be my 3rd on her (out of only 5 cruises!) I plan on increasing that number as fast as I can!!
