Not having ever pre booked shore excursions with Princess, wondering if you do, are they charged to your onboard account or paid up front? Once booked is there a window in which you can cancel without penalty?

Thanks.:)

Most shore excursions can be cancelled up to about 48 hours ahead of time. The few (expensive, helicopters, private cars and the like) that cannot be have that indicated in the information about the excursion.

Look in the Princess Patter when aboard for the "closing" date and time for each port's shore excursions. It is also posted at the shore excursion desk. To cancel when onboard, one must turn their tickets in before the closing deadline.

In case of a missed port, Princess does not charge your onboard account for the excursion, they credit it back to the onboard account.

In case of illness, a doctor's stamp on the ticket constitutes a valid cancellation at any time prior to the excursion, and one would also receive a refund of the excursion cost. However, there is the expense of the dr. visit.

Yes, as stated, shore ex are charged to your shipboard account, you do not pay up front for them.

99% of all shore excursions can be cancelled up to approx 36-48 hours prior onboard. If you happen to book one of the few exotic shore excursions (such as an overnite to Cairo), it states right on their description that once booked, they can not be cancelled (there are very few of these, but they do exist). But most shore ex can be cancelled up to the time frame mentioned. The Princess patter (ships newspaper delivered each evening onboard) will list the cancellation times for each port. If you check your Princess patter each evening, they will explain it completely to you. Enjoy!
