I am thinking about taking a Wind Spirit cruise out of St. Thomas in March '05 but I can not find any recent reviews about the ship, staff, food, etc. Does anybody have any current information on this ship? Thanks...........GP.

We did the Wind Spirit/St. Thomas cruise in January 2003 and loved it so much we did it again in January 2004! We wanted to do it again this year, but couldn't work out the dates and rates we had gotten the past two years... We loved this itinerary and ship!! Ports, ship, food and service were all fantastic! You'll have a great time!

Hey 2Feathers..........do you have any deck or cabin preferences on the Wind Spirit or can you suggest any cabins that I should shy away from? Do the lifeboats obstruct any of the room views on deck 2 or does deck 3 cause any noise problems (dining, entertainment, casino, etc.) for cabins on deck 2. Thanks.........GP.

Hi Beth,

We just did that itinerary on Celebrity and know you will enjoy it! Happy Anniversary. We have taken 99 cruises and this will be our first Windstar as well and we are celebrating our 30th. anniversary. Sorry we cannot celebrate together but have a fabulous time. We can compare notes when we return home.

Hey gp... Sorry for the delayed response. We just returned from a 10-day land trip to St. John!! We really wanted to do the Wind Spirit again for the third year in a row, but never were able to get the rates we wanted. But we had a great time, and saw the Spirit a few times while we were there (in St. Thomas, St. John, and across the way during its stop in Jost Van Dyke, which you can see from the north shore in St. John.) My only advice about cabins is that I've always heard midship is best for both reduced sound and movement. The rear of the ship usually puts you closer to the motor (noise and vibration), and bow and stern cabins usually have more up and down movement. We stayed in B cabins (lower deck) near midship (I think cabins 120 and 116) both times on the Spirit, and had no complaints either time. The B cabins are identical to the more expensive A cabins, just one extra flight of stairs to contend with. I don't believe any of the cabins will have obstructed views because of life boats or anything else. We did have the gang plank visible at times from our cabins, but no big whupp. There is a photo gallery on Windstar's website, and you can see the life boats are stowed a deck or two above the cabin decks on the Wind Star/Spirit (look for the photos of the ships with four masts). Here is a link to the photo gallery:

I hope this helps! You're going to have a great time!!
