onboard costs

Ok we are booked on the Ruby

and after looking around and seeing such added expenses

like prepaid tips and drink cards

just thought i would ask what expenses a person can expect once on board

the cruise i found cover charges for some of the specialty restaurants

what else might be extra

Alcoholic beverages, sodas, anything from the mini bar/fridge (if you have one), photographs, specialty coffee drinks (if there is a cafe), purchases in the gift shop, salon services, spa services, use of therapy pool (if there is one).

It really depends how much and what you drink, and what else you plan to buy. For example, shore excursions can be a big cost but again depends on how many you select and their cost. In general, costs for drinks with alcohol will not be much different than what you pay on land.

All of these costs will be billed to your on-board account, payable at the end of your cruise (before you leave the ship you will need to make payment arrangements, like authorizing them to put the ship charges on your credit card).

 

One thing not mentioned: small tip (usually in cash) to whoever delivers a room service order.

You can control many of your onboard expenses by not buying everything that's offered! You don't HAVE to use the specialty restaurants, or buy fancy coffees!

 

There are alot of beverages that are included...you don't have to buy sodas or soda cards. Many lines will allow you to bring sodas onboard---they mainly discourage you from bringing alcohol.

 

Consider the tips to be part of your fare....the folks who will be serving you (you will find) DESERVE them....they work hard so that you have a great vacation! Do not think of that as an "extra" expense...it's part of the cost of cruising!
