Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Just as an aside, the Aurea upgrade would also include access to the thermal spa area. If you don't get the upgrade, you can purchase a pass to that area. The thalassotherapy pool and whirlpools there will help your back recover from the bed.
  2. MSC's bed on Meraviglia was quite hard. You may try contacting special needs through the web site to request an egg crate. If that doesn't work, ask your room steward when you meet them. At the very least, they will be able to put a couple of duvets on the bed.
  3. That balcony cabin shower looks small. I don't think you noticed since you were taking the picture, but the shower curtain was definitely winking at you. I think it also wrote your phone number on the wall for all the other shower curtains on your August cruise. Thanks for letting us cruise vicariously with you again.
  4. Do you really have to post these photos every single time someone mentions tap water? You are the only only who has posted anything like this, and frankly whatever you are showing us is just not a thing that happens with any frequency. I am sure you raised holy heck if this actually happened to you, and I am sure cruise staff gave you an explanation for this exceedingly rare problem. So how about instead of drama, you just tell us what they told you caused this instead of misleading people? The water in the cabins, restaurant, bars etc has always and continues to be purer, cleaner, safe as if not safer than many people's water in their homes.
  5. What are the hours this is offered. Looks like MSC saw Carnivals brunch and knew it was a good idea to add it to the cruises from NY and FL. We didn't have this option in September.
  6. The free water from restaurants, bars, and your bathroom tap is pure reverse osmosis water. https://www.msccruises.com/int/about-msc/sustainability/planet. I am guessing your aversion to the tap water is because chlorine is added. The water in restaurants and bars is generally filtered to remove the chlorine taste and smell.
  7. Your key card will have your assigned time and table number on it. The embarkation day daily schedule will tell you where and when the maitre'd is available for dining changes. If you go at that time, they will be able to tell you if you are at a two top and if not, will try to accommodate a change.
  8. How comfortable or uncomfortable is the bed. My past experience is princess is worst then rccl then msc with ncl regular rooms and haven more comfortable than any other bed anywhere other than my own. I'm hoping princess is better now?
  9. We didn't. But that was because we were saving room for three or more desserts.
  10. There has been no one able to answer this question from their experience yet on these boards. We know that the ships that do the $5 surcharge for an extra entree have been enforcing that. But, we do not know if they charge $5 for each additional entree. We don't know if one orders three entries if the fee is $10 or $5. The way it's worded could mean it's $5 inclusive of as many extra entrees or $5 for each extra entree. If you find out, please report back.
  11. On the Meraviglia from New York, we often ordered a pasta as a "starter." We always received the full dinner size and exact type including meat or seafood each time and were never charged the extra entree fee. The lasagna was huge and delicious. The Meraviglia menus do not have a "primo" section. It is called "starters."
  12. They do that if there is more demand for the cheaper inside rooms. Now they can sell your old room.
  13. Consensus is still out as to whether the charge is for each additional entree or if the $5 charge covers any additional entrees after the first. The wording isn't specific, and so far no one here has reported personal experience with this. Also keep in mind that there is always a pasta or risotto dish as a main each night, and the always available section of the menu has some main pastas. You can order any of that (and/or presumably the main salad offering) as a starter for no additional charge. I think maybe one person here had a problem doing that. But if that happened to me, I would escalate the request, as pasta is a whole different course than a main in traditional Italian dining, and I am guessing that person's waiter was confused. They will almost certainly bring a main sized portion BTW.
  14. I suggest you also post on the Royal board so you can get an idea of what people with similar tastes as you think about NCL.
