  1. I am home, tired but home and now will try to catch up a bit. Cursing on the St. Lawrence River is so nice with lots of scenery. No real whale sightings there for us, at least and no announcement by the captain so I don’t think there were any sightings. It’s slow going as the captain has to follow the law hold his speed to no more than 10 knots. In some places her was slower. Since we missed Cap aux Meules, we had lots of time to get to Quebec City 😘
  2. thanks for the Sunday Daily Sandi & Rich and thanks to Roy, Vanessa Dixie & Debbie. Got home last night and still weary. I did remember to make my own coffee though 😉 Ivan is well and happy to see me but I don’t think he suffered any while I was away 😉 My pet sitter said she would be delighted to care for him again. He was such a good boy. I knew he was but I am a tad prejudiced and you always wonder how he will be with someone else 😳 Sorry to read about Maureen’s DH’s eye issues @RMLincoln 😢 and @Cruising-along’s BFF’s DIL suffering from a stroke and having issues 😔 Cinco de Mayo is no longer a day of celebration for me - Jose’s funeral was that day. I need groceries but the foot is pounding despite following the protocols on the entire cruise and it feels like I am fighting a cold. So, I think I will just coddle the foot, stay in with Ivan and scrounge what food I have in the freezer. LOL. Have a great day everyone !!!
  3. The Great Land is always a beautiful itinerary and our CC friend is bound to make the most of it on their B2B. We hope they enjoy all the scenery and wildlife on land and on board. And, of course, we wish them fair winds and smooth seas. Bon Voyage to Westerdam - 7 day Alaska: Haljo1935 - have a great birthday celebration on board - B2B following Apr. 27th Bon Voyage Haljo1935 !!!!! Have a great cruise and a WONDERFUL time !!!!!!
  4. Thanks everyone - there’s more to add but it will have to wait until I get home. We’re sitting in Montreal airport waiting for our boarding time.
  5. Lots of great itineraries and sailings today. All of them are going to have some coolish weather no matter which one they have chosen. We hope our CC friends enjoy the best possible weather in all their ports and time on board. And, of course, we wish them fair winds and smooth seas. Bon Voyage to Zuiderdam = 28 day Azores, Normandy & Baltic Jewels: Harboursiders StLouisCruisers - B2B with June 8th StartrainDD Bon Voyage to Rotterdam -14 day Britain, Scotland & Ireland: navybikermom Iamthesea Bon Voyage to Eurodam -7 day Alaska: Murray’s Pop Bon Voyage everyone !!!!! Have a great cruise and a WONDERFUL time !!!!!
  6. Just getting ready to sail away from Quebec. Had a great tour and lots of pics I am waiting to sync so until that happens I think I will be in catch up mode (story of my life). Last night so luggage has to be finished, etc. By the way, we were able to use our Mariner drink cards today for Pinot Grigio. No problem at all 👍
  7. Deb has really enjoyed the stir fries & “Chinese” type variations. Very good. I had a salad today and it was well done. He was constantly asking me if I would like the other things on the bar. Oops - looks like CC saved this pic I posted (or thought had posted last night). It’s the Hotel Frontenac at night. Took the pic through the Sea View Pool though since it was way too cold to go to the unprotected part of the deck or the Sports deck for clear shot.
  8. Congrats on the new home. I’ll get it removed form you. Hope you enjoy your new home and find a replacement cruise when the time is right 🙂
  9. Yes - didn’t do Morimoto but the fish offered is better IMO and cooked well. Have been on Rotterdam and that ship could cook fish (transatlantic sailing) and several other fish aficionados agree with me. Sailing on the Volendam and the fish has been with more choices and well prepared. In fact, I just had rockfish tonight which I very much enjoyed.
  10. We are in Quebec and it is C-C-COLD. That evil polar arctic wind has followed us the whole way. The whole forecast I looked at before packing has been wrong, wrong, wrong. We’re Canadian and know what spring is like. This has NOT been even the beginning of spring. Praying for warmer weather tomorrow as I booked a lovely private tour for the two of us. My foot and legs are in recovery mode (pre-cruise) so for once I put my thinking cap on and we are going on a bike tour. We’re not riding them - we are in the ‘cart’ and our guide rides the bike. I asked him today if he had blankets or if we should bring them from the ship 😂. He does. Weather permitting - we’re doing it. Hopefully it warms up as the day goes on. It’s been the absolutely worse weather of any cruise I have ever done. Talked to a crew member this morning and he said that there are 3 weeks that this one can have miserable weather. ironically, this one last year had good weather. Kazu just picked the wrong time LOL. But we are still making the best of it 😉
  11. I hate those chocolate covered strawberries too. They go mushy in a day no matter what you do with them. We haven’t eaten any of the selection yet but debating - a couple of things look tempting. neither of us are chocolaholics 😉
  12. Salad bar is very, very good. Lots of fixings. Very popular on the ship for good reason.
  13. So the cake display was on yesterday. We missed it - it wasn’t in the Daily at all and we were on the wrong side of the LIdo. No announcement either. when we went to our PG lunch, I saw it had been added to the Navigator app; Reports were it was prettier than it tasted 😉 Great fellow Canadian roll call members @catletwere kind enough to share the photo they got.
  14. It is really weird. Never had bad ones before no matter the length of the cruise. I think she was doing them in oil originally.
