Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Just off the Jade March 13. No reservations for shows. Getting there 15 minutes ahead of time will see more than half the seats open for most theater shows.
  2. We were on the Escape for a TA in November, 2022. We will be back on her this September, for an itinerary very similar to yours. Will be following along with your trip report. O'Sheahan's for breakfast is pretty much our go-to. Never a line, service is quick. I usually get the French Toast (which is strange because it always has like just one or two raisins in it...and being a raisin hater, that's fine with me. Don't end up with a pile of nasty raisins on my plate.) Mrs.Schmoopie always gets some egg dish (I also hate eggs, so I can't tell you exactly what she gets). Give O'Sheahan's a try...you'll probably like it. If not, you didn't hear it from me.
  3. How was your experience at the airport in Rome? We have a tight turnaround time from ship disembark to flight and hoping it won't be a fiasco.
  4. This is shocking! "Rock, Paper, Scissors" usually doesn't result in violence.
  5. Wait a minute... Was this because you're the only one in your stateroom...or is this some new NCL way to piss all of their upper tier people off and to save on Tide? Everything I have read up until now said that if both guests in a stateroom were Platinum or above, each person gets one bag. Our next cruise will be our first as Platinum and are taking carry-ons, which means less clothes and more laundry bags to be filled.
  6. So nice to see a picture of your dad and to be able to put a face to a name. Well, I guess "Dad" is a name. How about one of the two of you together?
  7. Submarines are reportedly headed to Iceland to peruse the specimens in the phallic museum. Gives new meaning to the term up periscope.
  8. Wait...this is actually a thing? (Pun slightly intended). I would think having this museum in Iceland would result in a significant amount of shrinkage.
  9. We were on the Jade (Pearl's sister ship) for 14 days two months ago. Pretty much everything was great to outstanding. We liked it so much, we booked the Pearl for a 14 day TA next September. If the Pearl is anything like the Jade (and it should be), it should be a great trip.
  10. We were on the Jade two months ago for 14 days. Loved pretty much everything about it. Our new favorite ship (and crew).
  11. @YVRteacher Don't know if you saw this. You (and others) should be able to take advantage of this.
  12. I didn't click on the links. Don't need to. I'm living proof that smoke triggers my (and Mrs. Schmoopie's) asthma. Whatever is in cigarette smoke, it has the effect of closing up my breathing passageways and it has the feeling of severe shortness of breath and/or suffocating. Maybe I'm an anamoly (Mrs. Schmoopie, too). Maybe we should get inflatable plastic bubbles in which we can be encased on our next cruise. On second thought, it's probably hard to breathe inside one of those, too. As for casinos (the original topic)...absolutely no problem with them. If people want to lose money, (and I've lost my share)...at least that doesn't impact others walking through (or even in the general vicinity of) the casino.
  13. Depending which survey you look at, about 11% of all American adults are smokers. 89% are not. Seems like there should be a better way to accommodate the vast majority...especially since smoke wafts far and wide and impacts everyone in the vicinity and beyond. Nasty habit...and it all goes up in smoke. Oh, wait. This was a casino discussion. In that case, never mind.
  14. Where's the best place to see turnips? 😛 Apparently they're a big thing over there, per @mking8288 👇 "4 of us with 2 other CC couples to see the turnips & flower show, etc."
  15. I was in hospital management for many years. Nurses were my favorite employees. Doctors, on the other hand...in the words of Forrest Gump, when talking about a box of chocolates..."You never know what you're going to get." Although, I've never bitten into a doctor (or a nurse, for that matter) to see if they had a nougat filling. Good thing I retired before I got the urge...
