Easy access beach with shade?

DH can't walk far and I have to avoid the sun. Need recommendations for a nice place to go where we can relax and have a few tropical drinks?

Cane Garden Bay is the most popular beach option with several beach bars/restaurants and chair and umbrella rentals. I would recommend going to Myett's when you arrive (the taxi drops you off right there) and getting a table in the shade by the bar and having drinks and lunch. You're just steps from the water and can enjoy watching the water and people from there. If you want to be in the sand they rent lounges and umbrellas.

Brewers Bay is much less crowded and has 1 beach bar and some shade, not sure about umbrella rentals.

About how far is it from the port and how much is a taxi?

It's just the other side of a nice scenic hill. About 15 minutes. Should cost 7 or 8 bucks.

I'm a DEEP shade person and had no problem being under trees at Brewers Bay. :)

We rented chairs but had no need to check on umbrella rentals.

Our family will be on a cruise with two infants and prefer not to take taxis as no car seats. Does anyone know if there are any beaches in Tortola we can walk to (up to about 1/2 mile or so)
