San Pedro Cruiseport parking

We'll be parking at the San Pedro Cruise port for an early April cruise to Mexico. Our friends will have bikes on top or on the rear of their car. Do you think there will be any security problems with leaving the bikes on the car for seven days at the parking lot?

I would NOT leave bikes attached to the outside of the car during a cruise. Even locked onto a bike rack, we all know those bikes can be easily detached and stolen.

The lot is a large open air lot and access, 24 hours a day, is fairly open. A thief could walk in with bolt cutters and ride off with the bikes without arousing too much attention.

Will the bikes fit INSIDE the car? Remove the wheels and, often, fitting inside is no problem since there are no people in it...If you want, bring a sheet and cover the bikes...

You can always call the Harbor Division of the LAPD and ask them what the theft rate is in the RD(reporting district).

I'm an avid bicyclist in the LA area. Bike theft is rampant, especially high-end, expensive bikes. There have been "smash and grab" thefts where the bike was inside a locked car or SUV! So my answer is "Yes", it will be a problem.
