canadarocks Posted June 15, 2017 #1 Share Posted June 15, 2017 Trying to decide whether to do a shore excursion in Grand Turk. We'll be snorkelling with Woodwind in Bonaire two days before we get to Grand Turk. Is the snorkelling in Grand Turk worth doing as well? How about the stingrays at Gibbs Cay? Rare crewsweeper Posted June 16, 2017 #2 Share Posted June 16, 2017 Snorkeling off shore in GT is fantastic. I've heard varying reports on the stingrays though: too short of time, few rays, no food, etc. Then others say it was great. Preference is to snorkel the Wall and let what ever sealife that shows up show up. So if you have an opportunity to head to the Wall do so. Otherwise, enjoy your time in GT. Thanks so much for the advice. Any recommendations for a company to take us to the Wall? I'm not usually a fan of ship excursions.
Rare crewsweeper Posted June 16, 2017 #4 Share Posted June 16, 2017 Blue Water Divers or Grand Turk Divers. http://www.grandturkscuba.com/ http://www.gtdiving.com/ Oasis Divers is the outfit that handles the cruise ship excursions and they are a good outfit. But I agree ship excursions get over priced and overbooked.

Rare mitsugirly Posted June 17, 2017 #6 Share Posted June 17, 2017 We just went with Grand Turk Divers. We did the snorkeling (wall...but I missed it and wondered off the wrong direction with my daughter...oops) and then on to Gibbs (which is the real reason we booked this tour). It did include another snorkeling spot, but we elected not to go and just wanted to head to Gibbs. There were PLENTY of stingrays and they hung out with us all day. We spent hours there and it's a very beautiful and primitive island. I did a full review on our day there with TONS of pictures if you are interested. Go HERE and it starts around post # 324 (note, they were a little late showing up to get us, but we still had MORE time than they originally told us we would...made for an excellent day). :)

canadarocks Posted June 19, 2017 Author #8 Share Posted June 19, 2017 I'm curious if there are any private companies that do catamaran tours in Grand Turk?
Rare crewsweeper Posted June 19, 2017 #9 Share Posted June 19, 2017 I'm curious if there are any private companies that do catamaran tours in Grand Turk? Most of these are tied to snorkeling, usually out to Gibbs Cay. And thus most of the cats are tied to cruise lines (Chukka tours for instance). Contact one of the two snorkel vendors above and ask. They may have a cat option, but again it would probably include snorkel time not just a sail around the island.
