Ladies formal night

Which would you say would be the majority, long gowns or short cocktail dresses?

Long gowns in my experience but it really doesn't matter as long as you feel

comfortable.

I wear both, and feel comfortable in either. Evening trousers and a nice top are acceptable too. Wear what suits you. Carolyn

I no longer take a long dress on cruises - always wear cocktail dresses or evening trousers. And I would have said that long dresses were in the minority, but see that a previous respondent thinks otherwise. There's a mixture of everything... don't worry about it, wear whatever you prefer. No-one will care, so long as you're clean and tidy!

Have been on all Olsen ships and seen very few proper formal gowns. I use evening trousers and a few shiny tops which gets me through several formal evenings.

I would agree. You do still see a few formal gowns but they are very much the exception.

A lot more are favoring cocktail dresses and trouser suits for sheer practicality these days.
