Rental Cars Near Port Everglades

We will be returning on a Sunday to Port Everglades but need to get to the Miami airport. What are the car rental locations nearest to the port? How do you get to the car rental from the port? How busy will it be? We are just exploring this option over getting a shuttle of some sort from Port Everglades to Mia for a 2pm departure.

Any input on both options would be greatly appreciated.

I believe there is an Avis/Budget on 17th St., not far from the port entrance. I have read they have shuttles to the cruise terminals, but I would call the local office direct to be sure.

We have used this Budget office and it's a small one and could take some time as they only have one rental agent...We have also used Thrifty/Dollar which is also the closest rental agency and just outside the PE terminal gate...Both companies have comp shuttles to their locations. I would go with whichever is going to give you the best rate for your date.
