New Orleans Hotels

Can anyone recommend a nice hotel near the cruise terminal in New Orleans? I would love to have one that allows you to park and cruise but not a necessity. Mostly concerned with short distance to Riverwalk or street car, safety and clean. I stayed at the Ambassdor in 2005 and 2006 and it is very nice but a little far from most NO activities. Have not been to NO since Katrina. I will be traveling with 20 year old son in July so not looking for any nightlife activities. Thanks!

Holiday Inn Superdome, the last two times I managed eventually (had to call for months) to get a $99 cruise rate that included cruise parking. Its not bad, not wonderful but the price is right.

They have a shuttle which will drop you at the port in the morning or drop you somewhere on Riverwalk, that leaves on the hour.

Drury is nicer, and will let you park I last heard for $50. It used to be more reasonable, but its getting higher.

Fire,

So you say is a pretty good hotel. We are looking at the HI Superdome for next cruise. We can get the best price there for next year. Lots booked out already for January.

We are looking at the Sheraton on Canal St. They have some club-level floors that sound nice. Includes breakfast and access to the fitness center. BIL works for the company and gets employee rates that are exceptional.

Anyone ever stay there? Reviews are mainly positive, except for comments on noise and the elevators. Hoping the club level will be quieter.

I've stayed at the Sheraton on Canal for a conference, very nice hotel, and huge, but it's not all that close to the terminal.

The Drury is really nice, too, and only a few blocks away. Free hot breakfast and soda/OJ/cocktails in the lobby (depending on the time of day ;)).

It really all depends on what your price range is and what your needs are.

Only if they are giving you the cruise special which has the free parking, no breakfast. they also have one for a small parking charge, that includes breakfast, which isnt the one I get.

I had to call for several months before the $99 was offered, maybe a month before my cruise, it finally came up last dec, just before xmas.

Iv stayed at the Drury and it was close to $150 and seems they want even more lately ....though I admit, we really loved it. They have finger food now with the drinks, like potato skins and chicken wings. You each get 3 coupons for drinks at happy hour.

I recommend the Drury. We stayed there last year and will be there again this year. Right on the corner where trolley stops. From 5:30 til 7:00 (or close to those hours) free food and three free drinks. Sodas are available for free until 10:00pm. Good breakfast. It cost 50.00 to park for the week. Very nice hotel for the price.

We stayed at the Hilton Riverside. Which fittingly enough is right on the river and connected to the Riverwalk mall. It's also less than a 5 minute walk to the terminal. It was a pretty nice hotel. I'd stay there again. The casino is also just across the street if thats your thing too.

We are staying at the Sheraton on Canal St for our 2012 cruise. We plan to just drive to the terminal and park in the garage. We are hoping that with it being Mardi Gras weekend that we will not have trouble getting around the Big Easy.

Has anyone else used the parking at the New Orleans Terminal?

Have stayed there and it is a great hotel, convenient to the Quarter and just up from Harrah's.

The rooms are very nice and pretty large...we weren't on the club level either.

On our most recent cruise out of NOLA, we stayed at the Westin Canal Place. One night pre cruise and one night post cruise. Pre cruise we had a river view room, which was AMAZING! Post cruise, we had a city view, which was just as amazing! The hotel is gorgeous! The lobby is on level 11 and has great views of the river.

We would stay at either of these properties again. The Westin seemed much more convenient to the Quarter, which we liked. You just take the Iberville elevators and it's just a short walk away. Same as if you wanted to head to Harrah's, Riverwalk or the port.

I love the Hilton Riverwalk, we stayed there Post-Cruise. I don't know if they have a park n fly rate though.

We asked for rooms overlooking the river, and we got to see the Conquest leave on the sailing after ours. Got some great pictures!!

Happy cruising,

I have stayed at the Hilton Riverwalk because I tried to stay at the Harrahs hotel but they were full and the casino comped my room at the Hilton for 2 nights.

Which I did not know they were going to do that until I checked in, Supprise.

Our choice is always the Hilton at Riverwalk. It's an easy walk to the port. There's no breakfast, parking is available for the cruise. For us nothing beats overlooking the river and watching the ship arrive as we are usually too excited to sleep.

How far is this to the French quarter? Walking distance?

You are wlithin a block of the Quarter or you can hop on the riverside trolley/street car and be dropped off closer to the center of the quarter or go on further to get to the French Market.

I love the Drury Inn. Their rates have gone up but if you are cruising this summer they have an e-rate special and the code is DREAM. They do charge $50 for you to park for the week. We walked to the French Quarter during the day and took the trolley at night. For us the free breakfast, drinks and dinner made it worth while; however in November, 2011 they are too high for me, so we booked the Hampton Inn Garden District which offers free breakfast and free parking for the length of the cruise. They have a trolley stop right out in front of the hotel to take you to the French Quarter.

  • 2 weeks later...

Does anyone know about the Mariott on Convention Center Blvd. They have valet, covered parking for cruise duration, breakfast and one night stay for around 200. Can't find too many reviews on the hotel itself. I just want to know it is clean, safe and close to attractions. Thanks!

Have a few questions about NOLA hotels. I am Harrahs Diamond and can be comped in any of the following hotels: Harrahs, Marriot, Hilton Riverside, Wyndam Riverfront, Intercontinental and Westin Canal Place.

Was wondering if anyone knows which of these is closest to the port. Are any of them walkable hauling one large suitcase? Or do any have a port shuttle?

We are a family of five (kids 22,20,17) does anyone know which of these has the largest rooms?

We have only ever stayed at Harrahs and I do not remember those rooms being all that big. It is only one night though so as long as we all fit anything is doable :o)

thanks for any info

Trish
