LBB Posted May 17, 2005 #1 Share Posted May 17, 2005 I'm sure this has been asked a billion times before, but I couldn't find an old thread. A friend is going on the Caribbean Princess and was wondering the general price of alcoholic drinks. Thanks.
chrysalis Posted May 17, 2005 #2 Share Posted May 17, 2005 they are "generally" quite reasonable.....but someone might post a scan of a drink menu for you.
donna5 Posted May 17, 2005 #3 Share Posted May 17, 2005 Martinis $4.95 unless it's in Cruisers then it is $5.00 Drinks of the day start out at $3.25 I think. The prices are cheaper than most land based bars and rest. Oh, and my husband says beers $3.50(more than happy hour prices at home)
Hate 2 W8t Posted May 17, 2005 #4 Share Posted May 17, 2005 I am quite surprised how affordable those prices appear. Of course, if they are serving a martini in a shot glass, it may not be such a deal. :p I am a dacquiri drinker myself. How are the mixed drinks? Watered down or yummy?:D
elliair Posted May 17, 2005 #5 Share Posted May 17, 2005 From the Diamond Patters: Cocktail of the Day $3.25, Martini of the Day with souveneir glass $8.00 or $10.00. Shooter of the day with s/glass $5.95 without glass $3.25. Five Dos Equis $14.00. Also, between certain hours of the day, you can get special martini drinks for $3.50 only at a certain bar. Also, plan to tack on a 15% gratuity for every drink you purchase. The price listed are for SPECIALS only, and expect to pay more for regular drinks. If you really want to save, BYOB. Toto2Kansas Posted May 17, 2005 #6 Share Posted May 17, 2005 After just returning from an RCI cruise, I can definitely tell you that Princess has very reasonable drink prices in comparison.
kimholland6 Posted May 19, 2005 #7 Share Posted May 19, 2005 those are the drink of the day prices though, which I only got once. I always just ordered what I wanted and it was all different prices. i got pina coladas and daquaries. there are small medium and larges. the large is $10.45, I believe the charge for $5.46 on my bill was the small but some were $6.61. and $7.13. so all different prices, some are based on which bar it is. oh and the drink of the day is only cheaper from the casino bar, they announced that daily over the PA . they made it very clear that you can only get the cocktail of the day for $3.25 in the casino bar. hope that helps
ahracer Posted May 19, 2005 #8 Share Posted May 19, 2005 From the Diamond Patters: If you really want to save, BYOB. And how are you saving when you can purchase most liquor from room service for less than it costs at home??? Scott
spongerob Posted May 19, 2005 #9 Share Posted May 19, 2005 The liquor/mixer packages available from room service are a pretty good deal. You get a 375 ml (13 ounce) bottle plus 3 cans of soda or tonic for around $15. That's enough for about 8 standard cocktails. Can't beat that anywhere. elliair Posted May 19, 2005 #10 Share Posted May 19, 2005 And how are you saving when you can purchase most liquor from room service for less than it costs at home??? Scott We mostly cruise in January and friends and relatives know this. We get lots of booze for Xmas. :p Also, where can you get a good bottle of wine for $2.00 a bottle on a cruise line? We call it two-buck Chuck from Trader Joes. If I remember right, a glass of wine was $6.00 a glass plus 15% gratuity. I brought several bottles of wine that lasted the whole cruise. Toto2Kansas Posted May 19, 2005 #11 Share Posted May 19, 2005 You can also buy larger bottles from room service if needed. They offer the pint packages with sodas or liter bottles. The liter bottle range in price from $20 up depending on what you are ordering. I have my liquor list in front of me from the Star Princess and things like Stolichnaya, Smirnoff Red, Beefeater, Barcardi, Cruzan Coconut Captain Morgans, Seagrams and Absolut are $20 per liter. Other items like Jack Daniels are $35 and Grand Marnier is $38. They have a rather extensive list that they will deliver to your cabin upon request. Just call room service and ask them for a liquor menu and someone will bring it to you. It works well if you plan on entertaining in your stateroom and you are able to set up your own bar for guests. Tarheelbelle Posted May 19, 2005 #12 Share Posted May 19, 2005 In 11/04, we bought a liter bottle of Bombay Sapphire from room service for $27 on the Coral Princess. We had priced this in the liquor stores in Ft. Lauderdale, and this was less than or equal to the price in the stores. I will say it is somewhat less than that in NC where I live. However, I also didn't have to carry it from home this way, and I could carry on wine/champagne instead, which are a good deal in the Ft. Lauderdale stores near the docks. Rare oskidunker Posted May 19, 2005 #13 Share Posted May 19, 2005 I tried it and poured it down the drain. Good wine costs between $5-$10 a bottle, at least to my taste.
sultan_sfo Posted May 19, 2005 #14 Share Posted May 19, 2005 One may like or dislike Two Buck Shaw -- but to equate the price of wine directly to how good it is would not be advisable. Like most drinks and food, what we like and dislike is matter of one's taste not how much one pays for it. We driink wine with our dinner every day -- wines that cost $3 to $60 here. On Princess, based on our palates, some wines are good buys and others are way overpriced. /Sultan I tried it and poured it down the drain. Good wine costs between $5-$10 a bottle, at least to my taste.
