Beaches near cruise port?

We've been here once and I can't remember what we did! Dh swears we walked off the ship and spent the day at a beach near the port. I haven't had any luck finding his beach. Is there a beach near the port? The beach we went to had loungers, a bar, restrooms and very pushy vendors. I don't want a tour and would prefer to stay somewhat close to the ship if possible. Thanks!

If we decide to skip the beach is there any shopping in the port area?

There us a beaxh walking distance from the port, but it doesn't have chairs/umbrellas or vendors or whatnot as it's not a tourist beach so much. It's beautiful Vigie Beach, which has lots of natural shade, great swimming waters, local food and drink shacks down near the airport entrance, and about 15-25 minutes walk.

Reduit Beach is the typical tourist beaxh which is about 25-30 minutes ride one way, has chairs and umbrellas, vendors (as pushy as you let them be, a firm no thank you usually does the trick), beach restaurant, etc. Taxi is $30us one way, leave plenty of return time as there's only one road.

Beaches are not our strong suit. I would highly recommend a tour that takes you to visit the Pitons, waterfalls, volcano, etc..those are our highlights!

Enjoy tour visit.

Don't know of any beach there that would be in walking distance for most people.

Vigie Beach is pretty easy walking distance, all flat, about 15 minutes for reasonably got folks, 20-25 for those who amble or stroll along. It's just on the orher side of the airport.
