Flight leaving FLL at 11:10am...

Is it an absolute must to do the early walk-off with our luggage? Our ship's (Oasis of the Seas) arrival time in Ft Lauderdale is 6:15am. We're not the best at getting up as early as required for the express walk off. If we can be among the first groups called for "regular" disembarkation, will we have a problem being at the airport by 10am? We would have preferred a later flight, but this was the only direct flight.

You would want to be off the ship by 9am at the latest to make that flight. I don't know what you consider to be an early wake up time. Generally you have to be out of your cabin by 8-8:30am. Basically you can probably make that flight time but just keep in mind the Oasis might not be the only ship arriving that morning and additional ships will add to the number of people heading to the airport. Getting off the Oasis and Allure is very easy, your problem if you were to have one would be at the airport. Not all of the terminals at the Ft. Lauderdale airport are set up the same and some get more congested than others for check in and TSA screening.

On our previous few cruises, we were in no hurry and therefore were literally among the very last people off the ship (tried to milk every last minute we could possibly get on the ship). We never really put much thought or effort into the disembarkation process. Those who choose the express walk off with their luggage must be off by what...7:30 at the latest? And what time do they usually start calling the groups - shortly after the walkoff people are done? I assume we can request to be among the first ones.

Usually the people doing the express self disembarkation start leaving the ship before 7am. Yes the assigned groups will start to go off shortly after the express folks. The amount of time it takes for the groups to go off is dependant on how quickly things are going on in the terminal for Customs and Immigration.

Yes you can request to be in one of the early groups if you have a need.

Appreciate the responses. One last question, if anyone knows....if we do decide to carry off our own luggage, can we still walk of the ship after they have started to disembark the people who have to go claim their luggage? I'm thinking of not putting the luggage out, we go have breakfast approx 7am, then go back to our stateroom to collect the bags and disembark (and thus not having to worry about finding our bags in the terminal). Is this possible/feasible? If so, that should have us off the the ship by around 8:30am and at the airpot by 9am.

We have done flights around 11 in FtL several times. We have NEVER done the self disembark. When you get the paperwork to fill out re disembarkation flight times, just fill in that you have a flight or car pick up at 9:00 - 9:30. You will be assigned the first-third group off the ship. (usually around 7:15/7:30) Don't put down anything later than that. We have always been at the airport before 8:30. Giving us plenty of time for lines or backups. Most people who self disembark will be the ones that have actually risked a flight at 9:30 or 10.

Of course if you want or will worry, you can do the self carry. But you will be told when to leave the ship. Not sure if you can just join into another assigned group. We aren't into that hassle on our last morning. ;)

Someone here will let you know procedure on your ship.

Have a great time.

Since this is cruise line specific I would recommend posting the Cruise Line Boards.

We had an 11:00 flight and did express walk off. We were among the last to leave before they started calling groups. We got to the airport by 8:30. There were people on our flight who did not do express and made it fine. This was the first time we did express and we found it much more relaxing than putting out our bags the night before and then scrambling for them in the terminal.

What time did you walk off the ship? I'm guessing shortly before 8:00? Also, do you need to notify them the night before that you are doing express walk off?
