Sunshine Alchemy Bartenders

Last year, while sailing on the Conquest, we had the best bartender we've ever had. Her name is Vera and she is from Croatia. Odds are pretty slim that she will be on the Sunshine when we sail on 27 June but it's worth a try to ask the question. Has anyone seen Vera? Also, how are the current Alchemy bartenders on the Sunshine? Our party of 4 enjoy sitting at the Alchemy bar trying new drinks and chatting with the bartenders so a good, fun bartender can definitely enhance our cruising enjoyment.

Thanks for the response. We enjoyed sitting back there chatting with her and she made amazing drinks. Hopefully we'll have more great Alchemy bartenders on our upcoming Sunshine cruise. Either way we're going to enjoy our trip!

Was on the Sunshine this time last year and will be on her again this time next week. The bartenders there were great. I don't remember their names from last year and I look forward to their drinks making me forget their names next week. :)

Just got off the sunshine and the alchemy bartenders are amazing. Parviz, Miroslav and Maria are very charismatic and they are very easy to talk to and make great drinks. I made a point in my survey to mention them. I actually had Parviz on the Liberty in January as well.

If you are going on the sunshine in the next few months you are in for a treat. :D

Kind of funny that in the beginning of the cruise the Alchemy is never busy. buy mid-cruise it is THE happenin place. That should say something right there.

That's great to hear because the Alchemy bar can be a fun place to sit and mingle with other fellows cruisers if the atmosphere is right. On the Sunshine is the bar located by the club?

Not even close. The club is actually the main show lounge that converts to the dance club after the shows (Liquid Lounge). It is in the rear of the promenade deck next to the plaza dance floor (trivia zone and bands) and the red frog pub.

Wow! Interesting layout of the ship. I am anxious to see how it looks in person. I faintly remember the ship when it was the Destiny; it was very easy to navigate back then. Thanks for all your feedback.

I am a fairly new cruiser as my signature shows. It was a little odd that the dance club is the show lounge converted but they do a great job of changing the ambiance. The pull curtains where the balcony is and take out all the chairs in the middle. Has a nice size bar in the lounge and nice comfy round sofas and many other places to sit. The DJ uses the stage. Works pretty nice actually. Just no where you are used to seeing it (promenade back to mid ship).

Between the Alchemy bar and the amazing serenity area I was very happy as I spent about 80% of my time in those two places.

I know I am often amazed that people come back from a cruise and say they were bored to tears. Maybe we set our standards lower than others but I don't expect to be entertained every waking moment.

Just like you I can find two or three areas of any ship that appeal to me and I am good to go. Usually it is a shady spot at a bar on the Lido, the casino and a pub like the Red Frog.

I am glad you had a good time.

If they are bored to tears than they must simply be boring people.. Not ever been bored on any of my cruises. Most of the time I have to choose between a couple of different things..

We love the Alchemy Bar. We were on Sunshine last year and had Gabriel and I think Miroslav. They were awesome. Then I went to the Alchemy on the Pride in February and there Gabriel was again. He remembered us and we were so happy to see him! We can't say enough good things about him or the Alchemy Bar!

You are so right about it not being very crowded the first couple of nights but once finds it, it's so crowded the rest of the cruise!

And as for people being bored on cruises??? I don't get it either!!

I need to put my 2 cents in about the Alchemy Bar. My DH and I just got off the Pride 2 weeks ago and Gabriel and Raymond were at the Alchemy. OMG! First they obviously did not get along real well. Gabriel is all into himself and LOVES to talk and Raymond is all serious and makes drinks much faster than Gabriel. They were so funny! Raymond was done after our cruise for 3 months? (something like that)....and Gabriel might be leaving too. I will say, some people cruise for the CD or the bands or the entertainment. We cruise for the Alchemy bar. Next cruise is Conquest in November and I made sure they had the Alchemy. The martini's are hands down the best we have ever tasted. Coming home was such a let down. NO ONE at any bar around home can come close!

Order a "tart" raspberry martini....you will not be disappointed!

some people need to be entertained every moment. My sil loved our 5 port cruise, she wasn't bored, she got bored on sea days. Me? I had a book in a quiet place, I was golden! If i'm able to be bored, then yipppie! grab a drink, a dessert and watch the clouds! :D

I personally didn't enjoy 5 port days, too busy!

some people need to be entertained every moment.

I find it even more prevalent now with smartphones etc. I read an interesting article the other day and the writer stated that people today never "just wait".

She stated in the article that there was a time when you just stared off into space and let your mind entertain you.

I'm not saying one or the other is good or bad. Lord knows I spend my share of time on my laptop and phone but one of the joys of cruising, for me, is to disconnect for a week. Sometimes I just love hanging out at the Lido Bar and watching the water and people and feel the breeze in my hair.

I have to second this too!! We were on the Sunshine this past April and they were the bartenders as well in the Alchemy Bar. Awesome awesome bartenders! Great drinks and just wonderful personalities. We were there almost every nite, definatly one of our favorites parts of the Sunshine Ship.

All of this positive feedback is making me very anxious to get to that Alchemy bar on the Sunshine! Also, I love the fact that it is not located in the Aft of the ship like on the Conquest (although we loved the Conquest Alchemy bar also). I'll be onboard in 19 days to test it out!:)

Please come back and tell us how your Alchemy experience was on the Sunshine. We will be sailing her in late August and we plan on doing the mixology class they hold at the Alchemy.

We too fell in love with the Alchemy Bar when on the Sunshine last year. We did the mixology class on the last day out and it was a lot of fun, super informative! In fact, my husband got so hooked on "mixology" that we had to go buy a lot of the tools they use and now grow our own mint for drinks. We also make our own regular and spicy syrup (to make the spicy chipotle pineapple martini -my favorite!). We'll also be on the Sunshine in late August - maybe we'll meet at the bar! :)

I will be on the August 16th sailing. If you see a Jay Leno look a like at the bar that will be me.
