You're right about the Noisy Miner - these young ones sure live up to their name ;) It's an Island flea. They migrated from Tasmania and caused the extinction of all small dogs in Australia. Dave It looks like the empty case of a cicada larva. They crawl out of the ground, an adult cicada emerges and the empty case is left behind. Maybe I'm wrong?
