Post Cruise Hotel ?'s

Ok fellow cruisers in the planning stages of our Jan /16 cruise and would like your thoughts on post cruise hotel suggestions with a proximity to Bourbon Street and or the French quarter. Never have been to NO so any help would be greatly appreciated, here is the list I have complied and in no order, my wife works for Marriott so cost is not a huge factor........

1) Le Pavillon Hotel

2) AC Hotel by Marriott New Orleans Bourbon/French Quarter Area

3) JW Marriott New Orleans

4) Marriott - New Orleans

Thoughts suggestions ideas on food, to do, must dos, airport shuttles anything else you can think of.

The only one I'm not familiar with is AC Hotel. Marriot is practically on the corner of Canal and Bourbon. JW is across the street. Both are nice 4* hotels. Le Pavillion is a 4.5* boutique hotel. That's going to be about a 6 block walk to Bourbon Street. It's nice..they have a doorman in a tux and top hat. It's not going to have the modern bathrooms and stuff like the non-boutique hotels will. Every night at like 10pm they have peanut butter & jelly sandwiches and hot chocolate in the lobby. I'd stay at one of the Marriots but Le Pavillion is good to experience once. JW Marriot is where Robert Durst was living when he was arrested in March.

Awesome THANKS, 6 blocks is kind of far to walk, so it look like one of the Marriott's, like to be within walking distance to Bourbon street and the French quarter.

Any suggestions on good eats, even the touristy things and even some of the off trail things.............

Also I forgot this place. I've only gone here for desert. I love their pecan pie. If I'm in town before thanksgiving I'll order one ahead of time and bring it back.

With your "to/o far to walk" mention, are you only looking to go back and forth Bourbon Street? You do know this runs for blocks. The French Quarter is way more walking than 6 blocks, worth of walking. Cabs are really your only option for these areas. the HOHO bus, during the day, may be a good idea.

Thanks for the suggestions, well I guess I can clear it up a bit, walking reasonably, not like Vegas where you can walk for hours and still never seem to get where you want, you know what I mean? 6 blocks is nothing really just am not going to rent a car and the parking fees, etc, walking is fun as it exposes one to more.............:D

We stayed 2 nights post-cruise at the JW Marriott. Although the hotel was nice, I preferred our stay at the Hampton Inn on Carondelet St. The room was nicer and it included a free breakfast.

There was quite a spread for being a "Continental" breakfast in that they had omelets and waffles that were made by the guests as well as the fruit, muffins, juices etc.

Although the place we had dinner was not in the quarter, we went to Vincent's for dinner. It was totally delicious Italian food. We also took a cab to Neow's for the best fried chicken for lunch on the Monday after the cruise.

We did go to the original Cafe du Monde for beignets and coffee on Monday morning. Delish!

I am looking forward to going to NOLA again, but never in the summer. I thought I would die from the heat and I was in the perfect place to do so as we did a cemetery tour that was really interesting.

I have stayed at the Le Pavillon and our room was a bit small. It is also a LONG walk to the nightlife on Bourbon and not a walk I would do after hours. I would suggest staying within the confines of these bordering streets of the quarter Decatur, Canal, Bourbon, Governor Nicholls.
