stki Posted July 24, 2014 #2 Share Posted July 24, 2014 Could anyone please suggest a good hotel in Tokyo for a 3 night stay. We want to be near the train station. Hi Eileen We are staying at the Keio Plaza Hotel Tokyo which is close to the Shinjuku station. Booked the Plaza Luxe room (which is the club rooms with the free breakfast, & nightly drinks) direct with the Hotel. Can let you know how it was after our cruise in October Cheers Tanya
4774Papa Posted July 24, 2014 #3 Share Posted July 24, 2014 My Son stayed at the Hotel Metropolitan Marunouchi. We plan to stay there next year when we go on a cruise out of Tokyo. Hotel is right at the train station. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g1066443-d653033-Reviews-Hotel_Metropolitan_Marunouchi-Chiyoda_Tokyo_Tokyo_Prefecture_Kanto.html
shadowrider Posted July 24, 2014 #4 Share Posted July 24, 2014 In the past, I have stayed in and around Shinjuku or Shibuya. This trip we are staying at the Tokyo Station Hotel, for ease of transportation (shinkansen and local/regional trains), its location in Chiyoda, and for the historical facade which has been newly refurbished. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g1066443-d310308-Reviews-The_Tokyo_Station_Hotel-Chiyoda_Tokyo_Tokyo_Prefecture_Kanto.html
Yorkshire-Pudding Posted July 24, 2014 #5 Share Posted July 24, 2014 Stayed at Hilton for 5 days which runs a shuttle to Shinjuku as part of 15 day family holiday to Japan from 30th June to 4th July 2014. Across the block was Hyatt which seemed very popular. It also has shuttle to station. Sent from my SM-T310 using Forums mobile app

jellytot Posted August 4, 2014 #9 Share Posted August 4, 2014 Stayed at Keio Plaza last year for a week. hotel room is nothing spectacular but it is regular size of hilton room, cheap, clean and very centrally located. no bed bugs. has an in room safe; wifi, slippers and hot water flask. the restaurants on site are quite expensive. it is one block from shinjuku station so lots of places to eat in the area. the hotel has a snack shop in the basement that sells yogurt, rice triangles etc. we couldn't read the japanese characters on the food items but the employees went to great lengths to interpret ingredients for us (son has peanut allergy). We walked around at 11pm/midnight and felt quite safe in the area. we had to pick up our cruise in Kobe and took the bullet train from Tokyo to Kobe to spend one night in Kobe. there isn't room for luggage on the bullet train and the hotel was kind in enough to arrange a courier service (black cat) to transfer our luggage to Kobe. they completed all the forms in Japanese and our luggage was waiting in our hotel room in Kobe. it was a very inexpensive service and the hotel was great in organizing it for us. you can sign up for a keio card before you go and if you lucky breakfast will be included. May I ask how long it takes for your luggage to arrive? I am planning on using this service, but we are moving from city to city every day or two. Alessandrina Posted August 7, 2014 #12 Share Posted August 7, 2014 We stayed six nights at Hotel Citadines in Shinjuku. Wonderful place with small kitchenette (hot plate, kettle, mini-fridge, microwave, and with plates/cutlery). Free wifi, safe, bathtub/shower, Japanese washlet toilet. Good size room for Japan. While it is not that close to the Shinjuku Station, it took us about 20 minutes to walk. Or about a $11 USD taxi ride. Cheers.
Aussie Gal Posted August 12, 2014 #13 Share Posted August 12, 2014 We will be staying at the Intercontinental Strings Hotel for 4 nights after our cruise on the Diamond in October. It is right next door to the Shinagawa Station. Here is what the hotel has written: Narita Express train - 2910-3310 yen depending on day and just 70 minutes. (leaves directly from the Narita terminals to Shinagawa station next to our hotel. We are connected by a covered walkway directly to the hotel's dedicated elevator I can let you know more about it on our return if you are interested. Tansy Mews Posted August 13, 2014 #14 Share Posted August 13, 2014 You might consider staying near Ueno Station. We thought it convenient for the airport and city sightseeing. There are budget hotels there if you want that. http://www.keisei.co.jp/keisei/tetudou/skyliner/us/ae_outline/index.html
