Cambodia Visa

Where do you apply for a Cambodian visa? Is it better to do this ahead of time or at the airport? We are flying from Bangkok.

Easy to do on arrival - just make sure you have the correct fee to pay in USD and that the notes are in good condition.

Look up Trip Advisor Cambodia forum for all the information you will need to do this. Easier and cheaper than applying beforehand.

Just get the visa at the airport. DO NOT forget the pictures. Very easy, usually pretty fast.

DO NOT try the Cambodian e-visa. Even though it is SUPPOSED to work, they just had another big computer glitch and a whole lot of people in the last three weeks trying an overland transit from Saigon to Phnom Penh had to buy ANOTHER visa because their e visa's were invalid. All the e visas issued in the last month were issued with entry into Siem Reap, NOT through Chau Doc or Moi Bac/Bavet.

And you cannot purchase a visa in Bavet, which is the tried and true backpacker bus ride/shared car ride out of Saigon to Cambodia. Everyone who had an e visa had to reverse direction, go back into Vietnam and get a Cambodian visa or get on a boat up the Mekong and go into Cambodia that way where you can purchase a Cambodian visa at the Vietnam/Cambodian border check point on the river.

Either way works, but it's ridiculously easy to do at the arrivals. There is even an ATM doling out USD in the arrivals hall at the Siem Reap airport so you can pay for your visa. Note: ONLY cash USD is accepted to pay for the visa. It's $20 for the visa, and a few extra dollars for a passport picture.
