Anyone get a free cruise offer from Promotions 2 U in the mail

When you get offered a free cruise it's usually one of two things and with both you know why you are offered one: either a land-based casino comps you a cruise because of your relationship to them or NCL does it, usually for the same reason (casino history). Otherwise there is no such thing as "free" cruise.

Does it really say that P2U is actually owned by NCL? From what I've read here, those offers (usually sent by timeshare marketers that require you to attend their sales pitch) nowadays usually state clearly that the offer is not endorsed by NCL.

Of course it can be a straight out scam too, trying to get you to pay for example the obligatory port fees and taxes to them without there being any actual cruise.

Very fine print say must attend a 90 minute presentation. The mail looks like it from Norwegian. Even have a check voucher with the Norwegian logo. Even the fine print is deceiving. Wasn't to sure at first we are gamblers. We spend a lot of time and money in the. Casinos.

NEVER do this timeshare crap.

NEVER.

You think, "Oh, I'll just spend 90 minutes on this, say I'm not interested, and I'll get a free cruise!"

Wrong.

You will spend far more than 90 minutes.

You will find yourself under high pressure by obnoxious salespeople. They will demand for you to give them reasons why you are saying no. Every reason you give will be met with an obnoxious, earlier-prepared retort. They will try to beat you down with relentless pressure. Some will even try to make you feel guilty that you just wasted their time, or that you're some sort of criminal for coming down just for the free perks with no intention to buy anything.

And guess what? If you get through all of that without making a purchase, they will often stiff you and not really come through with what they promised, regarding the cruise. You will walk out feeling like you got something, and then you'll check on it later and find that you really have nothing.

Or you will find the itineraries offered to be highly restrictive, usually way off-season and in the very bottom of inside stateroom categories (and very expensive to upgrade).

And you'll often be forced to pay "port taxes and fees", which in reality also includes the NCF.

After all is said and done, you'll look on the NCL website and discover you could have bought that same room for $50/pp above taxes/fees/NCF, if you waited til near the sail date. So you went through all of that to save a whopping $100, plus had little to no choice in itinerary or date.

Basically, there's a reason they're offering something for "nothing", and they are very aware that many will attempt to take advantage of them. They know this in advance and in fact are taking advantage of you.

Or not.

The Manhattan Club is a timeshare at 50th & 7th in NYC. I took a tour there thanks to a 2 night comp stay at the Sheraton towers 2 blocks away ( comped by the timeshare company).

Toured the place (90 minute preso), said no thanks, and resumed our weekend in NYC.

No fuss, no muss.

Highly unusual experience.

Google "timeshare free vacation" and read the horror stories.

Besides, how honest do you think a timeshare company is going to be when they are misleading people to think they are affiliated with NCL?

while timeshares are a pain in the ass, they are definitely a way to get a free vacation. It will take closer to 2.5 hours instead of the 1.5 but they can still be worth it.

I don't know anything about this company so I can not say if this is a scam or not.

Again, the 2.5 hour versus 1.5 hour is just one of many, many, MANY problems with timeshare "free vacation" presentations.

I really encourage you, Stephen, and anyone else believing these to be a good idea to google the subject and read the horror stories.

A good, smooth experience with these is very much the exception and not the rule.

I really hate reading things like this because I absolutely detest scammers and scam companies, and the last few posts here seem almost encouraging for people to give this a shot.

My parents taught me at a very early age that you rarely get something for nothing, and that if it seems too good to be true, it almost always is.

Keep in mind that most timeshares are shady in themselves (they're a HORRIBLE value to buy, except in the secondary market, and people are lied to badly during these presentations), so it's laughable that anyone would trust these crooks to deliver upon their promises for free vacations.

It's even worse when these companies misrepresent themselves, such as placing a Norwegian logo or providing language to make people believe they are some affiliate of NCL.

You should stay far, far away from crooks like this, not waste your time, effort, hopes, and sometimes money attempting to grab the carrot they're dangling in front of you.

I received the letter from promotions2u for Norwegian cruise lines promo. Going to the presentation on 7/26/14. I will let everyone know if it is a scam. Reason we are going is few years back we went to one of these and did get a free cruise, dinner. Taxes etc. are extra. of course. I have no problem saying no and being a a-**** if they don't deliver. Will let you know tomorrow.

You do realize that, in the best case scenario, you are going to save like $100 per person on an unpopular itinerary, right?

You are likely being given a bottom-tier inside cabin and being forced to pay taxes & NCF.

They are going to give you a poor choice of itineraries and dates.

Those same inside cabins will go for about $100 per person (sometimes less) above taxes/NCF when it comes near sail time.

That's why these timeshare companies can give these things out. They have very little value, and they obtain them from NCL for very cheap.

Everyone should stay away from offers like this. There is very little upside, and a massive downside.

What's wrong with saving $100? According to the other threads you've started, we're all supposed to be itching to save every penny.

I also disagree that there are many 7 day cruises selling at $100 + taxes. There are SOME, but there are not many.

The cruises you can get cheapest will be the ones they give you here. Do you think they'll be offering the hot itineraries that always sell out without massive price drops? Of course not, as those would be expensive for the timeshare company to obtain.

I am advising people to stay away because $100/pp is likely the BEST case savings, while the typical case can include any of the following:

- Timeshare presentation with aggressive, rude, manipulative and even threatening salespeople

- Possible lack of keeping their word of giving the cruise if you don't buy anything (google Promotions2U and you will find nothing -- why do you think that is?)

- Possible scam where they charge you for NCF & taxes but don't actually give you a room on the cruise, then disappear

- Highly restrictive itinerary, where it will require expensive airfare on inconvenient dates for the worst and cheapest staterooms on the ship

- People who aren't as strong-willed as others might believe they really are getting a bargain with the timeshare, and will be goaded/tricked into making a terrible purchase

Advising people to do anything but throw it in the trash is performing a huge disservice to the community, and it is especially shameful when the defense of this shady offer comes from a longtime CC member with thousands of posts.

pigski!!!! How did it go? I got one too and want to know about your experience????

Yeah, pigski! Come back soon and report as I got one too and while I'm as skeptical as they come it sure does look like they are somehow in with NCL.

Well, the light bulb just came on. I think I've solved our border crisis...

Rather than border agents let's man the southern border with timeshare representatives. We'll see who truly wants asylum vs. those that turn tail at the thought of a "90 minute" presentation.

Promotions2u does not have a registered website

Domain

Try googling it

You get Sanskrit writing

Very pretty!

It looks like you found the above on promotion2u, but that is different than promotions2u.

I also received this free cruise offer from promotions2u in the mail, which made me investigate. I found out that the promotions2u domain is registered about a month ago in Arizona. They do have a website, which no surprise to me, say they are a marketing/promotional company. The website does not really give any details.

Given what is revealed in the promotion that came in my mail I assume it is a timeshare marketing promotion. I have never had any interest in getting a timeshare, and this time is no different.
