Totalnewbie25 Posted September 29, 2014 #1 Share Posted September 29, 2014 Is cash used onboard celebrity equinox or is everything charged to the room and paid by credit card at the end? Are all prices in dollars?
cruisead Posted September 29, 2014 #2 Share Posted September 29, 2014 All cruises are cashless except for the casino. Everything is charged on you room card which is backed by a credit card or cash you deposit when first boarding. Everything is US dollars.
jelayne Posted September 29, 2014 #3 Share Posted September 29, 2014 The only cash used on board would be the casino. All other charges (drinks, shops, spa, shore excursions, etc) are charged to your on board account. The prices on the ship are in USD.
Max Circus Posted September 29, 2014 #4 Share Posted September 29, 2014 Also, bring cash if you think you might want to extend additional gratuities to bar staff or other crew.
fleckle Posted September 29, 2014 #5 Share Posted September 29, 2014 (edited) Is cash used onboard celebrity equinox or is everything charged to the room and paid by credit card at the end? Are all prices in dollars? Almost all onboard purchases are charged to your stateroom.Besides the casino, another exception is purchase of future cruises onboard as the deposit for a future cruise cannot be charged to your shipboard account. NLH Arizona Posted September 29, 2014 #6 Share Posted September 29, 2014 The only cash I use onboard is for the casino and any tips I want to give out, which is over and above and above the auto-gratuities, that I pre-pay.
Sloop-JohnB Posted September 29, 2014 #7 Share Posted September 29, 2014 (edited) As noted by the others, while onboard everything is cashless (except for the Casino, and if you wish to Extra Tip anyone on top of Daily Grats). Your Room / SeaPass Card becomes your onboard defacto Credit Card (when you make a purchase it is swiped, and you sign a chit*) ... Just like at a Hotel everything will be charged to your room, and you settle up at Check Out * No chit to sign for Pre-purchased items, such as a Bevvy Pkg Celebrity Ships no matter where they are in the world, onboard Currency is US Funds You will have to secure your onboard spending at Check In either by a Cash Deposit or a Credit Card (this is also all outlined in your EDocs) If you are not a US Resident, or do not have a Credit Card that is in US Funds, you have a choice of the way that you wish Celebrity to handle your onboard charges. They can do the conversion from US Dollars charged to the Currency of your Credit Card... Or you can leave the charges in US Dollars, and the Credit Card Company will do the conversion. The choice is yours... And is as I said one you make on your EDocs / Check In Hope this helps, Cheers! wallie5446 Posted September 29, 2014 #8 Share Posted September 29, 2014 Now at the end of the cruise you can go to the desk and pay for your account in cash instead of putting it on a card. We just dont like to carry that much cash to try and cover our drink tab!:D
