A little background about us, we are in our late 40’s and this was our 11th cruise. We have cruised Carnival, Royal Caribbean, and Princess. By far, we LOVE Carnival. Simply because it’s FUN! We loved Royal as well, and will cruise them again. I think we have another 15 years before we will cruise Princess again. Not a bad cruise just a mellow cruise. We are just not ready for that yet! I had all the excursions paid for and I purchased $500 in cruise cash, and $200 in bar cash. I don’t drink (for medical reasons only, in my heart I am still a party girl!) and my husband drinks beer only. We love to gamble and spend a lot of time in the casino.

DAY 1 Embarkation- We arrived at the port at 10:45. When we parked I thought to myself “This is great! Parking right up front, boarding is gonna be a breeze with FTTF!” WRONG!!! Check-in with FTTF was a piece of cake! Only a few people in line, so when we went over to the boarding line we were right up front. And then we wait, and wait, and wait… We were at this port in April for a short cruise with FTTF and were on the ship by 11:30. Not so this time! I was so bummed. Due to Border Control we did not board until almost 2pm. I thought to myself, please don’t let this be an indication of how our trip is gonna go! We went straight to our cabin and it was ready of course. We had cabin 8238. I had my portable cooler and went directly to find my steward for ice (I am addicted to ice). When I was pregnant with my twins, I became addicted to ice. Good thing because the Dr. said some women get addicted to dirt! I’ll take ice any day! Everyone I ran into said, just call room service and ask for a few buckets of ice. So I went back to my cabin and called room service. No answer. I called 5 times and all it did was ring, and ring, and ring… Ugh, again I thought to myself, please don’t let this be an indication of how the service is gonna be! So my husband went up to the lido deck with my little red cooler and found a server to fill it up with ice. That server was very happy with the $5 tip for the ice!

The cabin was fabulous! Very spacious and a perfect balcony! We unpacked and went up to the lido for lunch. Finally, I can relax because hey, I’m on vacation! It was packed, but we found a table. We had burgers, fries, and chicken strips. They were VERY good. We walked around a bit and found a nice little spot in the Serenity area. We met a nice couple, chatted for a bit, had a beer and went back to our cabin to get ready for the muster drill. Because we were waiting for people to still board the muster drill wasn’t until 4:30. We knew to be one of the last people at the muster drill so we would be the first to exit the crowd! The announcement said that the cabin stewards would be checking under the beds. Lol! I guess they found a little kid hiding under the bed! After the muster drill we went to the Red Frog pub. This was a GREAT place with great service. It was not crowded so we could unwind. We actually saw some people from our last cruise in April. The beer that Carnival brews is great. That is all my husband drank every night! Now I need to know how to find that beer for home.

We went back to our cabin to change for dinner. We had anytime dining and went at 6pm every time we went to the dining room. There was never a wait. We had Tucker, Ferdinand, and Sheldon as our waiters. They were fabulous!! We tipped them well. We told them the first night that we were not the kind of people that like long dinners and they had us in and out in an hour! GREAT service. The first night I had the braised short ribs, ceasar salad, and the chocolate melting cake. My husband and I split the spaghetti cabonara. All were excellent! My husband had the prime rib. He also so said it was excellent!

We went to both of the adult comedy shows and both were hilarious! That is one thing about Carnival, the comedy house is FABULOUS!! We did gamble a bit and my husband won $250 and I won $100. We were super tired from the long drive to port so we called it a night around 11.

DAY 2 Sea Day- I always wake up around 5 (yes, even when on vacation). Went up to the lido, got a cup of tea and watched the sunrise. Just stunning! My husband woke up around 7 and we went to breakfast at the buffet. One thing I found out is that the eggs on the buffet are the same eggs as the omelets. If you want REAL fresh eggs you have to ask for them. No problem for me, I like scrambled easy. If you go right at 7:30 there is no wait. After that, the line is pretty long. We went to the hot tub in the Serenity area and it was fantastic. We did see some chair hogs, but we were there early and found seats. We participated in a slot tournament, we didn’t win but it was fun. In the afternoon, we went to a salsa class and met tons of friends! Funny thing about this trip, we met a lot of people from our home town. Some even lived on our street! My husband went to the veterans meeting at 4 in the Red Frog pub and I hung out with our friends. Dinner that night was great in the MDR. It was formal night so we dressed to the nines and had lobster and shrimp. It was very good! One thing we noticed is that there were more people dressed for formal night than not. I was impressed at how well EVERYONE was dressed. Later that night we went to the Heart and Soul show. Some chatter around the ship was that some didn’t like the shows. We LOVED them. The way I look at it is, these kids work SO very hard at what they do! They are the same age as my own kids so I get very offended when people judge them. Is it Vegas quality? No. Are they the greatest kids you ever met? Absolutely!! We went to the next 2 adult comedy shows and as usual, they were fabulous! We laughed so hard. Again my husband really enjoyed the Red Frog beer.

Day 3 Cabo San Lucas- We had made reservations for the all inclusive Riu Palace. AMAZING!! We ate, drank, and lazed by the pool all day! The resort has waterfalls, edgeless pools, and swim up bar with cocktail tables in the pool. We brought water proof cards and played rummy in the pool. It was very cool. The buffet was amazing and the food was great. If we were staying in port longer we could have had dinner there as well! There was a famous basketball player there, didn’t catch his name but the young crowd was all over him. My husband was more in awe with the Army Lieutenant sitting at the bar. He was our true hero!

We came back to the ship around 5:30 and we were whooped! We ordered room service. It was great! We had 2 orders of fries, a quesadilla, 2 orders of buffalo wings, and a pizza. Holy moley it was a lot of food! It was so good we didn’t mind the extra charge.

This night we just watched a movie in the room and slept!

Day 4 Mazatlan- We got up early and went to the lido for breakfast (yes the items were the same, but we enjoyed it just as much!). We packed our stuff and went off the ship to go to Stone Island. This is one of our favorite places. We took a water taxi over for $2 round trip. We walked through the island with the locals and hung out where the locals set up shop to sell items on the beach. We stayed at Las Vernos for the day. Ernesto took REALY good care of us. We played in the water, had a few beers and just enjoyed the company of the locals. They didn’t bother us because we were right in the midst of their set up. We walked around the island and headed back to the water taxi’s to go back to the ship. We met an amazing family that did the same thing we did and ended up hanging out with them a few times during the trip. Today was our cruise critic meet and greet. It was pretty sad because it was 8 of us and we were the ones that lived on the same street! They set up a whole drink and snack table in the piano bar. We got to spend a lot of time with Adam the Cruise Director and an Officer. It worked out perfectly because we got to ask a lot of questions and got personal attention. We went to the buffet for dinner tonight. The food was ok. It did the job and we didn’t have to dress up for it! We went and saw the Getaway Island show and went to the deck party. Again the show was cheesy but we enjoyed it. These kids are high energy and work hard. The deck party was fun and the Assistant cruise director Alex worked very hard to get people going! He did his job well!

Day 5 Puerto Vallarta- We woke up early because we had tickets to Las Caletas (The Best Day EVER!) and it was pouring! We went down and got in line for the excursion. They offered anyone who wanted to stay back and get a refund to go back to Guest Services. Half of the crowd did just that. We were amongst them. Guest Services was amazing about giving refunds for the excursion. They didn’t have to because it didn’t get cancelled. We went and had a leisurely breakfast, enjoyed the hot tubs and pools and just got lazy! Now this, was the BEST DAY EVER! When the rain broke, we got off the ship and took a taxi to the Malaccan (the boardwalk) we walked around and stopped in at The Zoo. We had a beer or 3 and just people watched (one of our favorite things to do!) This place was so much fun and the service was excellent! We went back to the ship around 4. We ordered some room service, a ceasar salad and a philli cheese steak sandwich. Both were excellent! We got ready and had dinner in the MDR. Every night we went to the MDR we requested Tucker and his team. We split a lasagna and each had prime rib. We love the lasagna, it’s not fancy but it is great! We also had the chocolate melting cake.

We went to the Battle of the Sexes show hosted again by “Alex”. We had Alex as our CD on the Inspiration a few months earlier. Not sure why he is Assistant CD on this ship but he sure is the funniest CD we have ever had! This show is a must see! We went back to the casino for a bit and I won another $285 on “Wheel of Fortune”. We went to the “Love and Marriage” show and as usual it was hilarious! Tonight was supposed to be the “Serenity” party but it got cancelled because of the rain.

Day 6 Sea Day- We did the usual, went to the serenity area found our little spot and relaxed! We went to the “Salute to Veterans”. This is Carnival’s new slogan: Honor, Family, Fun. We love this! We heard stories from people who were in Vietnam, Iraq 1 (my husband), and Afghanistan. We laughed and we cried. I LOVE that Carnival is doing this! This was another formal night and we had reservations for Nick and Nora’s Steakhouse. I am not going to go too much into detail about this because we thought it was just ok. Service was slow and we have had a better steak at Texas Roadhouse. Lobster was undercooked and the bone in Ribeye steak was about ½ inch thin…Umm, I mean thick. I am sure it was just an off night for them and is probably much better than what we had. We could tell that things were a bit “Crazy” that night. We went to the casino and I hit another $250 on “Wheel of Fortune”. I am the kind of person that when I win more than $100, I walk away. The ship brought on 2 new comedians and we went to both adult shows. They were again FABULOUS!!!

Day 7 Sea Day- We went and found our spot at Serenity and took turns getting our breakfast. We brought it back and had a relaxing time. They had a corn hole tournament this afternoon (they call it bean bag toss). My husband and his new friend that we met on the way back from Stone Island entered and took 1st place. We went to the Hasbro show after. It was very fun but I was extremely disappointed that an ADULT won. There were so many kids there it wouldn’t have been hard to have a kid win. Enough said! We went back to our room and packed all of our stuff and filled out our paperwork for disembarkation. We had dinner in the MDR and said our goodbye’s to Tucker and his team. We headed to the Comedy house for our final 2 shows. You have to get there early if you want a seat. This place gets packed! The good thing about the comedy house is there are always new shows.

Disembarkation- A piece of cake! We had FTTF, we went to the upper level MDR and waited with our luggage. When they called the first group we were the second people off the ship. We were in the car and on the way home by 8:30.

We LOVED the Miracle! If you are looking for frills, you will not find it here. This ship is all about the service! These kids work so hard to please you! Our cabin steward Mohammad asked us, for our comfort would we like 1x or 2x per day. We said 2x’s and he had no problem with that! He knew about my ice addiction and kept our ice full at all times! I tipped him WELL! He made my husband feel so good with all his jokes and poking fun! There were even days we could tell he snuck in 3x’s! The wait staff in the MDR Tucker and his team were AMAZING! The CD Adam and assistant CD Alex made us feel like family. There were hugs all around when we were leaving. It was like we had known them for years! Is there rust on the balcony? Yes. Did it affect us in any way? HECK NO!! These kids were cleaning day and night! Also, there were over 600 kids onboard and they were so well behaved! We helped some of them with a scavenger hunt.

Would we cruise Miracle again? HECK YEA!! I am going again in March! We are also booked for the Magic in 2018 and I am afraid that the service won’t be as personal. I hope this is not the case and we find the Magic “Magical”!

Nice report!

We also love the Miracle even though she doesn't have all the bells and whistles of some of the larger ships!!

Yes, embarkation can start late on some days even with FTTF or priority/suites.

It all depends on how long it takes for people to leave the ship and if immigration needs to check up on some things.

We drive up from San Diego the night before and stay nearby at the Hotel Maya and leave our car there.

With the price of parking so expensive the hotel price is only about $30 more and we get an extra night of vacation! Perhaps try it next time. The Carnival code for booking there is p41.

Thanks for your detailed review! I love the Miracle too, and have always had a great time on her. I have found in my experience that embarkation time seems to be busy for all the staff, so I usually do like your DH did and go get my own ice! :D After that, once I get to meet my room steward, I've never lacked for ice.

Stone Island is fun! That's what I like to do, water taxi over to Stone Island and just hang out. Sorry you missed Las Caletas, I've done that several times and always thoroughly enjoyed it. Sounds like you guys had a great day anyway!

Thanks again for the review. I am curious to see which ship Carnival puts in Long Beach for 2018 to take over the 7 day itinerary. I understand the Miracle is going to China. :(

I'm interested to hear more about the resort in Cabo. How did you book it, and how much was it? This sounds like something we might do on one of our days in Cabo.

Thanks!

It was through resorts for a day and it was 24 down and 70 at the hotel. Well worth it!!

I was gonna ask the same question of about how you booked at RIU Palace. I think I will do the same thing. I was searching to make sure that was a reputable company or not. Thanks for the review, it helped my planning a lot.

Very comprehensive review! Thanks.

Thanks so much! I really wanted people to get a feel of this ship. You don't even notice the little dings here and there because of how amazing the people treat you on this ship! I would so much rather be treated like royalty (which is how we were treated by staff) than climb a rock wall, or ride a surf pool.

I was gonna ask the same question of about how you booked at RIU Palace. I think I will do the same thing. I was searching to make sure that was a reputable company or not. Thanks for the review, it helped my planning a lot.

Oh it's reputable! In fact it is AMAZING! I will do this every time we are in Cabo. In fact I would book this as an all inclusive! And I don't do all inclusive!

Oh thank you for this!! We just booked the Miracle for next summer!

Our days and evenings when cruising sound a lot like yours so it was so much fun to read!

You will love it! It takes a "Special" kind of person to love the Miracle! She is so special, NOT because of the ship, because of the people! If you are a people person, this is the place to be!

Thanks for the review! Month from today, can't wait! :D You mention Tucker's team with anytime dining. Were they fun and how fast did they turn you around? I am an in-and-out kinda gal as well and would love to know what made that team special.

Thanks again for taking the time for the review. Wouldn't happen to be posting any Funtimes soon would ya? We hit the same stops YEA!
