Getaway February 3 Nassau

Why is the getaway dropping passengers off in Nassau instead of continuing on to Miami?? Why go empty?would love to do this trip after the Super Bowl but having trouble with airfare back to ny n deciding on hotel in Nassau. This is just before the inaugural and right after Super Bowl charter. Please help me understand.

Because she starts the cruise in NYC and does not visit a distant foreign port, to carry you all the way to Miami would be a violation of the Passenger Vessel Services Act, which states that a foreign flagged vessel cannot carry passengers between two US ports without visiting a distant foreign port. For North America, the distant ports are in South America, or the ABC islands. This type situation is discussed regularly on these boards. Some call it the Jones Act, but that applies to cargo. EM
