Any Harmony Genie Reviews Coming Up?

Recommended Posts

I am going on my cruise this Saturday. So far my genie has been great. She contacted me about five days ago and has booked dinners for me, booked a private tour in Mexico and other things. I am looking forward to what is starting out to be an awesome cruise. I am really looking forward to this cruise more than any cruise I have taken over the last thirty years!

So, if you are on Harmony and you have a "she" Genie then you must have Alexandra. The other 2 Genies are gentlemen.

We just returned from a Star Class Suite cruise on Harmony. Our Genie was Reyno but we were traveling with friends who had Alexandra (1724) and they were both fabulous. They have very different styles. Alex is low key and very business-like. Reyno is a loose cannon but a LOT of fun. What made our cruise so exceptional was the way the 2 Genies worked together. It was such a pleasure. If we needed anything we could call either Alex or Reyno and our friends did the same. They were perfectly matched book ends and they made absolutely EVERY wish come true.

As I mentioned in another thread, the one and only shortfall, that we noted, was the fact that both of the Genies seemed to know nothing whatsoever about the Luggage Valet Program and had we not known we had to get paperwork in by a certain deadline (in our case, Wednesday at noon) we would have missed this perk entirely. The Genies need to be trained on how to help the guests sign up for LV and make sure that they are aware of the rules and deadlines. Other than this one issue, the cruise was wonderful.

The luggage delivery thing didn't work quite as efficiently for us as we have read it did for others. We had quite a wait for our luggage to get to our suite but we were still able (barely) to get everything put away before the muster drill. Not sure what happened in our case but it was a small bump to an otherwise lovely cruise. It was very very nice to be able to get to our suite immediately. Everyone else had to wait until 1:00 but we were in our suite and enjoying our champagne by 11:30.

Just a note (has nothing to do with the Genies). We HATED Wonderland. There were 6 of us in our group and only 2 of us made it to the end of the meal. I'm sure there are those who love this kind of bizarre experiment with food but we are not among them. The service was exceptional. I felt very bad for the lovely lady who was trying so hard to make it a good experience but it was just too weird for us. It would have been ok if they food had at least tasted good, but it was awful. After it was over, Reyno noted that you either love it or hate it. All 6 of us are in the latter group, as is Reyno, as he admitted, after it was over. I'm glad I tried it but they needn't worry about me coming back. I've heard plenty of reviews that just rave about it...so to each, his own.

Agree on both of these points. In Star Class Feb 4-11th, most of my Suite mates had either no luggage tags the last night, or 1 luggage tag instead of the 3 needed, or in one case the luggage got sent with another cruisers luggage across the US to Arizona instead of New York. This is an accurate statement, the Genie's unfortunately can't help in any way, shape, or form with Luggage Valet other than making a phone call, and by that last night it's too late. I carried mine off in the morning, thankfully so.

Also, most of our Suite did go to Wonderland one evening but I simply wanted buffet food and a quick meal. Rightfully so, as they were there almost 3 hours and walked into the reserved Comedy show as the doors were closing.

Thanks for the info. I was in Wonderland on the Anthem. I loved it but my travel-mate did not. We are doing Wonderland again on Day 1, we are then going to the Aqua show and stopping for a late night snack if he didn't like Wonderland.

I will look up your post on the luggage valet program since I don't know what it is. Thanks for the heads up!

Do you know if I can board around 11:15AM? I am checking out of my hotel around 10:45 and should get to the port around 11:15.

Thanks

All set to board in the morning. Alex has been able to handle all of my pre-orders except the flowers which must be ordered before you board.

Thanks for the Starbucks tip. I can get my mocha frappe every day. A secrect (not so secret any more) vice.

I'll make sure I work on the luggage tags day one.

Thank you all for your tips! I really appreciate it.

Cheers

Hope it's going well! Let us know your feelings on it when you disembark! I'm still in Post-Cruise Denial.

We just disembarked Saturday and we were in 8330 AQ suite with Reyno as our genie. I saw a previous poster who had Reyno and appeared to have a completely different experience with him than we had. Other than embarkation and debarkation, we had approximately 10 minutes of face time with him the entire cruise. We never saw him. There was one email the day before we embarked and that was the only email we received pre-cruise and he didn't appear to have read my response to the one email or the survey. There were no alcoholic beverages in the room as requested and I had to resend him the list again after I mentioned it. I really don't want to reiterate all of the issues we had (including he did not show up at Grease and had not reserved us seats even though we had confirmed it with him the night before) but I will sum it up to say that the service was upon request (via email or phone call) and nothing was done proactively. He never checked in with us to see if we needed anything and nothing special was done without us asking. I was also told that we were not allowed to request bottles of wine in the room from him or he would have to charge us which is completely different than what I had read about others experiences so that was very disappointing. Don't get me wrong, we had a fabulous cruise however, the genie experience was definitely disappointing. I don't know if he was overwhelmed with other guests or what but I definitely expected more. This was not the experience that RC is advertising.

Wow ! You're right. This is NOTHING like our experience with Reyno. You must have had the same suite we did, immediately after us.

I'm shocked to hear of your experience. He was right there every time for us. He must have had some other guests that sucked up his attention - not that that's an acceptable excuse, by any means.

Regarding the bottles of wine in the room, that information is correct. You would have received a 40% discount on the bottles of wine (up to $100/bottle) had you ordered them, but they cannot deliver bottles of wine for free. Beer, water and soda ? Yes. We had 4 bottles of sparkling wine delivered as part of a cabin crawl party and we paid something like $85 for all 4, which wasn't bad for shipboard prices. But Reyno arranged everything for that party. We had 20 wine glasses, plates, silverware, napkins, 3 meat and bread trays from Jamie's, ice, fruit and the only thing we paid for was the wine.

I certainly have no explanation about the service you received. Did he pre-book all of your specialty dining ahead of time and present you with the printout of all of your reservations ? The only time he did not show up to escort us to our seats was at the ice show. We waited outside for him to take us to our seats (we had seen him earlier outside the theater so we knew he was somewhere around) but we got tired of waiting so we just went down, found the red drapes and sat down. He showed up later and offered his apologies for not being there to escort us but we were fine with it. We had already been through the reserved seating thing a few times at that point.

Honestly, I don't blame you at all for being disappointed. If we had had your experience I would be, too. I sure would let RCI know about it in the post-cruise survey. Of course, they don't really give you anywhere to expound on your experiences in that survey but I use what little space they give me whether it's good or bad.

I also would be livid based upon what you experienced. Sebastian was a step ahead of us, everywhere, at all times. He'd actually be calling for us at our room or on the pool deck phone making sure we got to reservations on time. He'd be waiting at the restaurants and shows to escort us personally. I feel awful you did not have this level of service. If I had paid for Star Class and only seen the Genie upon boarding / leaving the ship as you describe... it wouldn't be a pretty follow-up and I'd second guess where I spent my money.

Yes, we saw Sebastian several times and saw his interaction with his guests and it was clearly a different relationship than we had with Reyno. It was disappointing but it did not ruin our cruise. We booked this cruise for the room and not for the genie.

He did make our specialty reservations for us but again, in the email I sent him, I had specific times requested and instead he just booked all of them at 6:00pm and told me we could request changes. Not sure why he didn't book the times I requested up front but I guess booking them all at 6:00pm was easier?? I did email him a couple of times throughout the week to have dining reservation times changed and he always responded and was able to change them.

I am sorry about your star class experience. We had Cleon who I believe is now on vacation.

I was worried that we would get Reyno and was very glad that we did not get him. We had issues with him in the past as a concierge. I was hoping that he had changed.
