What does "onboard credit" subject to?

I know this is kind of a stupid question, this is hubby and I's first cruise.

For Royal Carribean, we were awarded $50 in onboard credit, what does this include?

Does this include on-ship only, such as special dining?

Does it include shopping or gratuities?

Thank you in advance!

You can apply it to anything you use your seapass card for including specialty dining, excursions, gratuities, gift shops, and I believe casino play. Everything goes on your seapass card and you'll start day one with a $50 credit which sometimes takes a day or two to actually show up. But, it is a use it or lose it and no cash back if it was issued by the cruise line...happy cruising

If I may make a suggestion. Bring proof of your on board credit. On our last cruise we ran into a situation where we weren't given the credit. The cruise line couldn't do anything and we had to go back to our TA when we got back. Then they had to get in touch with the cruise line and it seemed like a hassel. Save yourself the hassle and bring the info with you. I'm not sure why dh didn't bring it that time, but I know he won't make that mistake again:D

We had the same thing happen to us on one of our cruises. We had a TA OBC. It didn't show up on our account. We went to guest services with a copy of our invoice. They called our TA from the ship. He gave them a code and our OBC showed up.

An "Onboard CREDIT" is simply a credit against any charges you make. If you have $50 OBC, the 1st $50 you spend onboard is taken care of.....

Yes...you should bring a copy of any credits...they will not always show up on your account until day 2 or 3....so don't freak out if it's not showing when you check in! It will be applied sometime during your cruise!

I always check our shipboard account about every 3 days.

And I always take proof of all credits that we are due. We have had problems and it does take them a day or two to straighten things out.

I also take proof of everything we pre-purchase like excursions, specialty restaurants and anything we order for the cabin.
