where to leave luggage?

We changed our 11 AM flight from FLL to a 7:30 PM flight home after reading some threads on possible delays in getting to the airport. My question is can we take a cab to a hotel near a water taxi stop and check our bags there even though we won't be checking into the hotel? We'd like to explore a little of Ft. Lauderdale and retrieve our bags later in the afternoon then taxi to the airport. Has anyone done this before?

Don't know about a hotel but each terminal at FLL has a service call Bags to Go (http://www.bagstogo.net) where you can store luggage for the day. Since the airport is so close to Port Everglades you might consider them.

Your other option is to rent a car, put the bags in the trunk, and then explore all you want.

That sounds like a great option for us also, we end our cruise in miami but our flight out of fll isnt untill 7:55 We could shuttle to the airport, store our luggage and then go exploring fll!

You should be able to use LE, but I would double check with your cruise line - airline participation varies by port.

We returned from a cruise on 12/22 with a 7:45P flight. We left our luggage at Bagstogo at FLL ($7/bag), took a taxi to the Hilton Marina Hotel, took the water taxi, had lunch on Las Olas, got off at the Hilton Marina stop, and took a taxi to the airport. It was great!

When we have a late flight we just go back to the Hilton Marina and they will hold your bags for 3-4 dollars.
