MY Vegas Rewards for RCI Cruises

Recommended Posts

Has anyone had experience redeeming those My Vegas loyalty points you earn from playing on line slots for either the free play in the RCI casinos, on board credit or fare reductions on Royal? They are offering these rewards 'for new bookings" and say you will be sent instructions about how they work after redemption- but I'd like to hear from someone who has done it- I have enough points for $300 cabin credit.

I'm wondering for example if you can book through any travel agent or if you must book from the cruise line? And I'm wondering if other types of credits ( like for repeat cruisers) can be used on the same cruise.. any experiences really would be welcomed- I see you can also get a free companion fare if you have enough points...

I have redeemed points in Las Vegas with no problem through MGM"s MLIfe for free buffets and drink credits , but this is a fairly recent set of rewards they have now offered..

You have to ring the Royal Caribbean telephone number that they give you on the reward. The price is the current rack rate, not what you see on the website and, depending on the cruise RCI can often do you a better deal without the reward

I used to play that when I had some free time on my hands its not really worth it anymore. I found I will lose more then I would get just to get that extra $300 OBC. Ill have to go to vegas some day now

Just as an aside, we used the myvegas points in Vegas this last January and got much better deals than they seem to be offering on the cruise. If you go both places, save the points for Vegas. Between my husband and I, We got several 2 for 1 buffets @ MGM and saved a lot on meals. Also got 2 new seat free on Beatles Love. Overall saved at least $400.

I used mine to see Love, as well (which was awesome!!). The problem with the cruise perks are that there are so many restrictions. Not to mention the fact that once you redeem it, you have 30 days to apply it to a cruise. But, if you find that the deals are not good and decide to not use it, I believe that you lose it.

I recently used the MyVegas for the 50% off cruise (as the 50% applied to the all 3 of us in the room it was a good deal and we found an cruise we wanted that it worked for). When you redeem, they give you a phone number. Your travel agent can call that number and give them the information. Something to keep in mind is that you may not be able to combine it with other deals. I couldn't use my C&A discount for the 50% off.

JackieKE, How does the 50% off your cruise work? Is it actually 50% off the current rate, or is it 50% off the original price? The original prices are usually much higher than any sales that are going on, so I'm wondering if the 50% off is on top of whatever sales are taking place when you go to redeem the reward.

Thanks for any insight you can provide!

Hi! The 50% was off the original price. So no you can't take the discount off the sale price. As we had 3 in our cabin, they took the 50% off all three which made the MyVegas discount better than the sale price. Also, there are only certain cruises that it will work for that you can check when you click on the MyVegas RC award (you can click on the reward to view it before you purchase it to get the link to the applicable cruise). Finally, keep in mind that it is not combinable with other discounts like C&A. For us though, the 50% was a great price, but having the discount on the third person helped make it a better deal. Take care.
