zacsc Posted February 23, 2012 #1 Share Posted February 23, 2012 Was wondering if there are hair dryers in the cabins, or do we need to pack our own?
time4me2fly Posted February 23, 2012 #2 Share Posted February 23, 2012 Yes, there is a hair dryer in the top drawer of the desk/dresser.
cccer Posted February 23, 2012 #3 Share Posted February 23, 2012 There is a hair dryer, but it is not very good. I'm just lucky I am bald:D
rogreenx Posted February 23, 2012 #4 Share Posted February 23, 2012 If you like a good strong hair dryer, you need to bring your own. The one in the cabin is very poor quality and difficult to style with.
maxxedout2 Posted February 23, 2012 #5 Share Posted February 23, 2012 The supplied dryer worked. However, it has been designed to be shipboard safe. The ON switch is not lockable and extended use triggers the thermal switch which shuts it off. Ours had a removable plastic cone to increase airspeed but using the cone also adds some back pressure and the internal heat soon tripped the breaker switch off. Bottom line: Bring one if allowed.
crazy4themouse Posted February 23, 2012 #6 Share Posted February 23, 2012 I have found that on cruise ships and most hotels, if you have long, thick hair it would be quicker to just blow on it yourself than rely on the supplied dryers. I have a nice little travel one that folds up small but is still powerful. Wouldn't travel without it! -gina-
ryano Posted February 23, 2012 #7 Share Posted February 23, 2012 not hair dryers, hair blowers :D
WeLove2CruiseRCI Posted February 23, 2012 #8 Share Posted February 23, 2012 I always being my own fold up travel hair dryer. I have short hiar, but very thick. The one in the room takes forever (I tried it once) to dry my hair and it smelled musty. If your not picky or have thin hair it would probably be fine. luvscruising2007 Posted February 23, 2012 #9 Share Posted February 23, 2012 I have short, fine and thin hair and the dryer provided works well for me. It takes about 5 minutes for my hair to dry.
Marie51 Posted February 23, 2012 #10 Share Posted February 23, 2012 Dryers in the cabins work fine for me. I don't see the need to bring my own although some people do.
Sequim88 Posted February 23, 2012 #11 Share Posted February 23, 2012 Also the hairdriers operate on 220v and only work at the vanity. They will not plug in in the bathroom which is a bummer because the mirrors fog up really bad in the small space and short of opening the door and letting cold A/C air in the olny options for us guys is to shave with a towel streaked mirror or freeze. I've suggested to RCI after every cruise that the upgrades include electric mirror defogger pads on the back side of the mirrors so they can't fog up in the first place. They're less than the cost of a table lamp and save time cleaning streaked mirrors.
