JCPenneys has their swimsuits out. Nice selection of suits and coverups!

Good to know! I'll be on the hunt for some new ones before I leave in a few weeks! Maybe this weekend I'll head over to the mall.

I can't find a thing at Target. Bottoms either too skimpy or are the granny skirts and tops are either no support or over-padded/push up and have halter straps - I like Bra-style tops. These are getting harder to find.

Target is carrying a new brand that has bra-sizing tops. Sadly, I don't like the styles they have available, but maybe they'll do better in the future:p

(I typically buy separates from Lands End, but a couple other current suits I adore are Tommy Bahama - I didn't think they'd fit my large chest but they do...well, some do;))

Shade & Shore is the new Target line http://www.target.com/c/shade-shore/-/N-4sk58

ETA I see I mentioned Tommy Bahama on the last page. Oops. The Target Marimekko suits I ordered did not fit and were returned. I haven't had a Target suit fit in a while. I think I have one Merona one-piece....

OMG this is so far from the truth! As someone with a more than ample chest they may allow more fabric in the chest area of some suits they certainly don't have any support anywhere else in the suit to support the tissue that is supposed to fill out that fabric! Large chested ladies hate those suits too! Large chests don't naturally stand at attention like a porno! :eek:We need underwires and all over band support to keep those things somewhat upright!:D

I have had good luck with Freya swimwear in DD+ which is bra sized. If you are AA sized you don't have any need for support and literally can wear any little flimsy swimsuit without a need for support. Freya costs in the $70 USD for just the top but I buy inexpensive black bottoms from Target.

My experience at Target is that they have swimsuits in ALL sizes from tiny tiny to plus sizes. They also sell separates so you can find the right size for your body parts. And...they're inexpensive too. They may not last forever...but for the price you pay...it's a win win situation. JMHO:D

Target is NOT a good option when you have big boobs but AREN'T plus sized. Trust me. I've tried. I'm glad they work for you, but it's incredibly rare that any one store is going to be the be-all and end-all for EVERYONE.

(the largest top in their new bra-szed brand is 38DDD so that's a great new option. I just don't like any of the styles so far )

Amen! I have a 27" rib cage and a 38.5" bust. I need an XL cup with an XS band. Most of the Target DDD sizes have "fitted" bands that are way too loose on me, meant for larger rig cages. And the tops you tie usually ride up and I have major underboob showing, have awkwardly molded cups or just fit horribly, but this is an issue I have most anywhere, not just Target.

Best bet for me is Freya, Panache, or Figleaves.com They have some pretty cute styles. I always try to keep an eye out for something that can work for me, though, because ordering fitted tops for me can be expensive and I like variety on vacation! Lol!

I love separates because then I can get cheap black or navy bottoms and mix with more expensive fitted tops:p Also, when my weight fluctuates, it hits HARD in the boobs but not so much for the bottoms - I have tops in all sorts of sizes but the bottoms I can wear at various weights....

Swimsuit shopping...ugh.

I used to love LandsEnd for their bikini and tankini separates. Years ago they offered a fabric called "faille" - it was sort of a subtle ribbed fabric, and it was so lovely - I probably had more than 10 suits in that fabric! Then, of course, they discontinued it. A few years ago, I tried some of their new styles/fabrics and I just couldn't get anything to work. Really disappointing to me, because I had worn those suits forever and LandsEnd has fantastic customer service.

Oddly enough, my most recent suits are from JCrew, Target and Gap! Separates. Gap had a cute high waisted bottom they've offered the past few years and I picked up Navy Blue and Black for literally - $4 each when I stumbled across their suits on sale on the website.

It's here (slightly different style than I have, but very similar)

http://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=1044202&vid=1&pid=640702002

I also got some cute bottoms at Target, in a label I've never noticed at their stores (Aqua Green) - so maybe it's online only? I'm not usually a swim skirt person, but I picked up a cute one with a ruffle last year on sale.

They have it here:

Swimsuit shopping is just the worst - you just have to keep buying things and testing them out til you find something that works.

Good luck! :)

I would check out swimsuitsforall that's where I get most of my swimsuits from. Good luck! I hate swimsuit shopping.

Unfortunately that site is one of the many who doesn't understand cup size. I'm WELL over a DD cup and I'm far FAR from a size 18+ yet that's what size they recommend for a bikini top in my situation. [emoji58]

It may work for average sized women but not insanely unproportional ones, lol.

I'm pretty sure bathing suit shopping is miserable for all women, regardless of size or shape [emoji24]

I discovered Profile by Gottex a couple of years ago and got some really amazing two pieces and one pieces, they are always available on eBay at great prices.

Last summer I also took the plunge and bought a one-shoulder one piece Michael Kors swimsuit at Macy's. I never felt so glamorous!

I am also one who needs ample support and structure, so it was surprising to me to find options that weren't from Lands End or one of the specialties like Freya. I still can't shop at places like Target or JCP but there are alternatives that aren't super expensive too.

  • 2 weeks later...

I am all about the tankinis... I was surprised with what I found at JCPenney and Amazon. I have two pairs of swimsuit bottoms that I mix and match with other stuff. One is black bottoms that are swimsuit material but look kinda like shorts. The other ones are high waisted vintage style red ones. I feel like they both contain my lumpy bits... although my thighs are unavoidable and I'm not wearing swim pants.
