Waimea Canyon - Advise Needed

We are sailing on the POA next week and have rented a car for both days on Kauai.

First day my husband is scuba diving and I am kayaking.

Second day we would like to go to Waimea Canyon but the ship leaves fairly early at 2pm.

Is it possible to complete a trip to Waimea Canyon in this time frame?

If not where else would you suggest to go?

Thanks in advance for your input

Doable, if u take into account the following factors:

1. "All-aboard" is at 1.30PM.

2. Refuel, return the car, wait for the shuttle.

3. Unexpected heavy traffic around the airport (car rental) area.

4. Ideally, it should take no more than an hour return to WC.

5. Depends also where u r parked for the night.

Even if u get only to the Waimea Canyon lookout, the amazing view is worth the drive.

We drove up up to Kalalau lookout, and from there we intended to walk to the Pu'u O Kila Lookout, but it was raining and foggy...

Enjoy !

All of the above points make sense.

Just bear in mind that there is basically one two lane road around Kauai. Any kind of serious traffic accident can cause massive delays. Get an early start and leave yourself lots of time to return.
