KarenR122 Posted June 20, 2013 #1 Share Posted June 20, 2013 Hello all, We are leaving on the Breakaway this Sunday and were lucky enough to upgrade our room to a Haven Forward Facing Suite. We are very excited but now I have more planning to do as I didn't include the Haven in my initial planning :D I have read almost every thread on here and it was super informative but I have a few questions if someone could answer, I would appreciate it! What is the dresscode for the Haven Restaurant....if we go for breakfast/lunch can we go in swimsuits and coverups (we would not be dripping wet : ) ) or should we plan on changing? If we do use the Haven Restaurant do you tip there? If ordering food in the suite, do we pay for the specialty restaurant cover charge if just ordering apps/desserts? Can you use the Haven Sun Deck for Sail Away? Are you able to order food while hanging out in the Haven Courtyard? I think that's it right now : ). Thanks in advance. psycomac Posted June 20, 2013 #3 Share Posted June 20, 2013 I haven't sailed yet but do have the answers to at least a couple of your questions through my own research and discussions here... Can you use the Haven Sun Deck for Sail Away?I don't see why not. Are you able to order food while hanging out in the Haven Courtyard?People have said that they were asked by the attendant if there around lunch time if they wanted food but the Q&A just posted by Nancy makes it appear as though NCL does not do food to the courtyard. I think that's it right now : ). Thanks in advance.
Bubby&Hubby Posted June 20, 2013 #4 Share Posted June 20, 2013 Just returned from Breakaway Haven. Here are some answers. I hope they help. There is food available at the Haven. Not large selection -- wraps, burgers, hot dogs. They will bring your food to the sun deck for you. We tipped waitstaff at the end of the cruise, not daily. There is poolside dining at haven. You can eat breakfast or dinner. Bathing suits and cover ups are fine Have fun. Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app
Mertziekakes Posted June 20, 2013 #5 Share Posted June 20, 2013 On the Pearl, they served breakfast and lunch if desired in the courtyard or your stateroom as well as in Cagney's. They will also serve specialty restaurant dinner meals there or in your staterooms. We usually went to Cagney's for breakfast and lunch and there you definitely should not wear swim suits with cover ups. Casual slacks, shorts, etc are permissible. For evening dining, most were dressed a bit nicer but not over the top. No shorts or jeans that I saw for dinner.
Mertziekakes Posted June 20, 2013 #6 Share Posted June 20, 2013 Also, for bf and lunch no extra tipping needed. Think swim suits with cover ups will work in the haven since right next to pool and hot tub but did not see anyone with suits last week. But also not real dressed up. I went down there early am for tea and pastries in my pj's that are very modest and felt comfortable at 6 am but would not at 7 when they start to serve food from the menus. rvsullivan Posted June 21, 2013 #10 Share Posted June 21, 2013 I've never noticed anyone in Cagney's for breakfast or lunch in a bathing suit. Shorts, jeans or slacks yes, never bathing suits.
NW Pacific Posted June 21, 2013 #11 Share Posted June 21, 2013 Am Confused! On the Breakaway what I read there is a designated restaurant for those in the Haven and in Haven accessible Suites, as in Cagneys on the other Ships, except this Restaurant serves B,L,D. Is there in fact a "Restaurant" or is it only pool side dining?

Is there in fact a "Restaurant" or is it only pool side dining? Yes, there is a restaurant. Poolside dining is in addition. We were able to have the full breakfast and lunch menus in the pool/courtyard area in addition to a snack menu in the afternoon. Of course we were on the TA. Rules may have changed since then. Bobbye Posted June 21, 2013 #13 Share Posted June 21, 2013 When we were on the end of May the area near the pool had more of wraps, hot dog, hamburger, etc. type menu for lunch. The menu in the restaurant was larger. But, I never asked if we could get the restaurant items near the pool. The same pool area menu was offered on the sun deck (patience is important -- it took quite awhile.) We saw shorts every night in the Haven restaurant -- not a lot but some did that. We didn't notice any obvious bathing suits and coverups in the restaurant. Near the pool yes. I don't think there was a Haven sailaway party like we had on the Epic. But we may have missed it. It is sad to hear that there may be no Haven sail away party but it could make sense. The Haven seems to have no bar with an ocean view. At least on Epic, there is Posh with the best views and you could even hang out in the Epic Bar lounge. Both bars have views of the sailaway. Another NCL cutback? david_sobe Posted June 21, 2013 #17 Share Posted June 21, 2013 Oh geez - I thought you were kidding .... like "Who's buried in Grant's tomb" type of thing LOL Ha Ha The haven sail away party on Epic is lots of fun. That is one time the posh bar is crowded. Best views sailing away with free drinks (the cheap ones). But a nice party. Sad to hear it does not exist on Breakaway. Thought it was strange that no one mentioned it.
HuddysDad Posted June 21, 2013 #18 Share Posted June 21, 2013 Hello all, What is the dresscode for the Haven Restaurant....if we go for breakfast/lunch can we go in swimsuits and coverups (we would not be dripping wet : ) ) or should we plan on changing? Swimsuits and cover ups are fine for Breakfast lunch, then resort casual for Dinner. If we do use the Haven Restaurant do you tip there? No, but if there is a waiter/host that you felt went above and beyond, give them something on the last day. When you go the Haven Restaurant tell Sandra the Host, that Edward Morris says Hi and we miss her. Also the waiters to look for: Michelle, Valintina, and Ricky, they were all awesome and will take good care of you. If ordering food in the suite, do we pay for the specialty restaurant cover charge if just ordering apps/desserts? I think so. Can you use the Haven Sun Deck for Sail Away? Certainly, as you will get a great view of Lady Liberty and going under the bridge is something to see up close. Are you able to order food while hanging out in the Haven Courtyard? You sure can! It was always nice to sit out there and order breakfast and when done, relax on the sun deck or enjoy the pool. I think that's it right now : ). Thanks in advance. You are welcome, enjoy your cruise and enjoy the Haven!
