Question about cruise parking in NO

Recommended Posts

We will be taking a cruise out of New Orleans on NCL.

I have some questions regarding parking - couldnt really find a concrete answer in previous posts or on the NO Port website.

First it looks like there are 2 terminals (but 1 garage for both??) - anyone know which terminal NCL uses?

We will be driving from Houston to N.O. so we wont be staying at a hotel so hotel parking is not an option - we will have to use the port garage. On the N.O. port website it said that you can drop off the luggage at the garage and they will take them from there? What is the recommendation? Take the luggage straight to the terminal, drop it off and go park or just do it at the garage. I want to make sure the luggage makes it to the ship ;)

I am assuming that the garage is covered since the information is talking about floors but is it secure - do they have security onsite? Just wondering. If not, we will be sure to take our crappy car :D

This parking garage is quite simple. You will pay as you enter, $16 per day and them go to one of the levels where the porters are. These porters will then take your bag, jus make sure you tip them a couple of bucks. After that you are free to park your car. NCL usually uses the Julie Street pier but it is easy in the garage as you just follow the signs.

The Port of New Orleans parking lot is one of the easiest and safest lots for cruise ship parking no matter which ship or pier in New Orleans.

The Carnival Triumph, Conquest, Ecstasy, Elation and the Norwegian Spirit all dock at the Erato pier. The Royal Caribbean Voyager and Navigator and the Norwegian Star are scheduled to dock at the Julia pier.

Since these 2 piers are right next to each other it doesn't really matter which pier they dock at.
