baggal Posted May 1, 2010 #1 Share Posted May 1, 2010 Would love to include a visit to the Chagall Museum on our port stop in Villefranche. Does anyone know how far it is from Nice's Old Town and the best way to get there? Cab? What is the approximate cost? I was thinking of taking a cab directly from Villefranche to the museum in the morning and then going to Old Town. Then, can I get from Nice to Eze and then back to Villefranche in the same day? Or is that too ambitious? Thanks.
Rare Hlitner Posted May 1, 2010 #2 Share Posted May 1, 2010 It is more then a mile from old town to the Chagall Museum and we have never found a good public transit route (perhaps somebody else has an idea). Also keep in mind that if you are in NIce on a market day (we are specifically thinking about the Flower Market in old town) the markets are in the morning so you might want to reverse your itinerary and go to old town early. Unless somebody can give you info on a local bus that is convenient to the Chagall you might want to use a taxi within Nice. But, taking a taxi from Villefranche directly to the museum is going to be costly and there is not even a guarantee that you will find a taxi at Villefranche. baggal Posted May 1, 2010 Author #3 Share Posted May 1, 2010 Thanks for the info. Do you know which days are market days. We will be there on a Thursday.
Rare Hlitner Posted May 1, 2010 #4 Share Posted May 1, 2010 Thursday will be perfect...it is one of the good market days because many of the stalls are open quite late (until about 6pm). But, the Flower part of the market does pretty much shut down by 1pm so its wise to make this an early stop. Hank
Rare RachelG Posted May 1, 2010 #5 Share Posted May 1, 2010 We walked from the Old Town to the Chagall and the Matisse Museum. It was a nice walk. Mind you, it is uphill going there, but coming back is then downhill. Very easy to do.
Cruise Junky Posted May 2, 2010 #6 Share Posted May 2, 2010 We took the bus to Chagall, it's not a bad walk though. Highly recommend.
